World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Patch 9.2 is finally here, bringing with it a new cinematic, featuring Anduin, everyone’s favorite King. In this cinematic, Anduin is freed from the bonds of the Jailer, releasing also the spirit of Arthas Menethil, the former Lich King.

What do you all think of this Shadowlands finale? Has World of Warcraft’s storytelling truly declined, or is Blizzard just setting the stage for a new chapter in the Warcraft universe?

  2. Varian got disenchanted at the start of legion by Gul'dan and turned into soulstone dust. There's no way he should be able to make a cameo appearance as a soul, absolutely retarded.

  6. In the end Arthas did not had a chance for an epic appearance like Garrosh nor a peaceful rest that he truly deserved, He became a disposable battery.
    Literately nothing left of him. Gone.

    As an Arthas fan i am absolutely mad and sad, Least he will not be able to be involved in further and possible dreadful expansion stories.

  7. Wow writing team dunno wtf to do with Arthas do they disenchant his ass. Imagine a simply thing as Arthas instead and helping Anduin to break free. Just a simple thing as that would make it way better. But we cannot even get that.
    At least Arthas will still live on as a badass in gaming history. This patch never happened.

  9. I only reaction I have seen which I fully agree with. Sylvanas's last words specially pissed me off, her saying "begone" and "may your name be forgotten". Arthas's storyline was one of the best in entire warcraft lore and people loved the character. To me it feels like the writers are saying to the players and even the old writers that all the old lore you will loved will be forgotten and begone if you don't like what we are doing.

  16. This is a plot twist you see i dont think we have seen all of Arthas. In the older lore we see in a dream/vision that there are 3 in the Lich Kong. Ner’zhul an evil man and a little boy. I believe that things are start to get more clear about that dream. We learn latter on that frostmourn split souls/retcon thing maybe. Maybe the evil man from that dream is the evil part of Arthas and we have not seen the good part yet. This could give Blizz the perfekt chance to save Arthas, and still make it so it have a great turn around🙂
