The thing about Argus going to SL, there is a Kyrian world quest Limbo where you need to judge the soul if it can enter shadowlands or is it being send back to life(or wherever). The kyrian who is part of the quest does state that some souls can't enter because they are of different origin, like demons or whatever. So my guess for the Argus explanation is that his soul entered to be judged but who the heck knows how he broke the arbiter.
Blizzard and WoW have some major problems to deal with, but the core of the Shadowlands is not the problem – how it was implemented is one of the problems.
I've never taken WoW to be mainly about story and therefore have no attachment to the storyline of WoW past. It's always be3n more about the gameplay, and that's where I think Blizz has messed up WoW over time.
Those more about story who get upset when the story goes in another and unexpected dir3ction should go to FFXIV or something else. Then you can stay on the same world with the same ongoing storyline developing through expansions and enjoy the attachment to story.
That's one of the reasons I play FFXIV. Some aspects of gameplay are still better in WoW, but the story development and lack of character power systems that seem forced are aspects FFXIV is better at, by a lot.

In general I see the story as mess and without redline in it. I think a lot is already said about it but what I want to point out is the fact that Sargeras a really cool and well built up villain is and at least for me I always felt this might about him, this presence that let me respect this villain. Zovaal is just dumb… nothing more nothing less. One of the biggest points why I do not like SL and the current Story is because of exactly this. He is build right now as the mastermind behind everything but no player even remotely fall for any of his "tricks" within SL (always other dumb NPCs or the plot itself) And the biggest insult IMO is regarding Sargeras. With the built up of Zovaal they imply he manipulate Sargeras… Not really believable. And then I we came to Argus and how he came to SL. Sure the easy explanation is he got pumped up with so much Death energy that he got altered to Death and with this he came into SL but 1. would he then not be correct with being in SL? How can this destroy the arbiter. Especially when we get told that the arbiter and the other once are more or less like titans. Wouldnt it be more sensible if the arbiter get this soul just ask herself "WTF are you doing here?" And IMO in general the concept how souls are coming to the afterlife is not really well written and full with plotholes… 2. How can Sargeras not see that or understand it. Sure we have the Nathrezim but I doubt that Sargeras would not oversee personally everything regarding Argus. He should have seen it surely during this long time that Argus got pumped with "Death" and not "Fel".
And so in general I think there are way to many plotholes or things not well enough explained in this universe. And sure it always was a bit like that but the older Team did one thing correct. They kept secrets and mhystic within their story.
For me the Story of Warcraft end with Legion because this was the Redline I followed from my chilhood on. What we have now is just nonsenselly and bad Fan Fiction.
Danathrius is the only thing worth keeping, imo.
Make it so that our adventures in the shadowlands was actually us having a near death experience after our fight with nzoth and channelling the origination beam through us and the Heart of Azeroth. It was all our brain creating it. That’s why death was coming for the heart of our world etc. Make it all a dream and that sylvanas still needs to be fixed.
They can say we were out for a while too so the world could have developed as well since then. It’s essentially a “time skip” for however much they want as we could have been in a coma
Can anyone else tell me what other stories that got so bad that people are asking or really demanding for the "it was a dream" ending just remove it from the lore?

I'm willing to live with BFA, as it wasn't a complete trainwreck of lore that made me lose faith in the entire franchise. I am willing to accept that sylvanas is a villain now, and cant be redeemed regardless of what I want. I am willing to accept the rush ending of the void storyline. I am willing to accept The horde going through another evil arc. Because they are disappointing at worst.

Since they've done N'zoth dirty (burning him in one patch was a waste, same for Azhara, and Argus imho), they could (read, they "should") just do the whole of Shadowlands as an horrific vision or something like that.
"We adventurers were on coma" would be nice.
Use some Bronze Dragonflight shenanigan's to toss out the last two expansions and pick up with Sargeras plunging's his sword into SIlithus with a old gods expansion.
Oh and fire the current writing team so the BFA and SL never happen again.
I think wow lore is written so vaguely because that way is easier to retcon at their leisure, changing stuff to fit gameplay and systems

I have been joking for months now that Shadowlands ends with us waking up in Ny’alotha having just broke free or been released from N’zoth’s influence. Blizzard will never do a retcon this big; no matter how much I really really want them to.
My thought was, just make it all a dream that n’zoth created and duped us all. We never actually killed him and while we were all in a dream state, he was up to some sneaky plan. I wouldn’t mind that at all. I’d rather be duped by tentacle boy than have to live with the SL story and any reset. That however would require blizzard and Danuser admitting that SL was a huge mistake. They have way too much arrogance to admit that, unfortunately.

There's no way to retcon shadowlands unless we actually time travel and prevent the writers from creating this mess.
Or everyone somehow actually forgets Shadowlands even existed.
Watch them pull some BS about "Mortals can't have knowledge of the afterlife." And something in Zeroth Mortis zaps all their memories. 😆 Sure they'd be stealing another idea that FFXIV just did about erasing memories but it's really the only thing they've got to fix this debacle.
But the bigger question is how will they handle new players? Because right now new players enter via the PREVIOUS expansion. Is Blizzard going to toss all their (hypothetical) new players into Shadowlands?! 😱 I mean… BFA kind of made sense and new players could wrap their brains around it. But are you going to take some fresh noob and throw them in the afterlife? 😇

I have the perfect solution to this, all the hero’s just defeated N’zoth and so to celebrate we all went to Thunder Bluff and took mushrooms and had a really really bad trip and imagined the shadowlands
They should delete BFA as well, straight up fucking delete them off of the canon, they never happened as well as the zones. WoD was when things really went downhill and honestly didn't make sense, MOP really insinuated next expac would be Zandalari themed except it wasn't, now would be that time and to bring back those zones(bigger and better). Essentially, sharing DNA with BFA but not being alike, is its own thing.
I'd imagine erasing BFA/SL like that would be a logistical nightmare, so this is my solution gap that, while reintroducing things that were added in BFA in a natural manner like playble races.
Denathrius was cool personality wise and quite frankly, he deserves to be his own character outside of SL shit entirely.
Its insane how the writing went this manner. Cataclysm literally setup a fuck ton of plot-points new and off of established lore that couldve been its own expac. Like a AZSHARA expansion.
Here is my solution to this cluster fuck of a a game, I HOPE Galactus or whatever wins next expac and the universe is reset and dumps retail. A new universe is reborn AKA the CLASSIC CONTINUTY aka old lore and continues on until MOP Classic, post MOP is its own thing. No WoD just its own expansion after that, like a certain Zandalari themed expansion that never was.
Removing all of Shadowlands is the only way I’ll come back to the game. Throwing away 20 years of lore is way more sad than losing the sci-fi crap Danuser shoveled in.
That entire set of dungeons End Time was included in was awesome. I would love to see them all make a relevant comeback instead of that timewalking BS. I'm 100% on board for shadowlands being scrapped.

We know why Teldrassil burned…because Afrasiabi. Same idea with the Cannon in Azshara that hasn’t been shot yet. He just did whatever he wanted that he thought sounded good. He said we would shoot the cannon because it sounds cool. They never managed to tie it in but it is a promise that was made literally on the stage off the top of his head.

Remove both shadowlands and bfa. Neither one of them make any sense, both of them betray and ruin everything that matters about warcraft story and lore and what our characters have learned and accomplished and experienced.
I'm fine with them deleting everything past WotLK honestly.

Argus was implied to be a death titan in Legion. All of his abilities and icons used "death titan", even his sycthe icon is marked as "death titan", however despite this and it being very in our face the instant you look at the files they never touched on it till now.
Why should we even talk about a new expansion?.. These people need to fix the foudations of the game they are ruining/have already ruined immensly. I don't look forward to a new expansion even in the slightest, and I wont pretend that I am. The only desire I have is that they fix the foundation they've thrown gallons of acid on and have now corroded of this once fantastic game and saving that first. SAVE what made Warcraft, the IP that even got WoW the traction it has now, first. There shouldn't be any talk of "how they're going to make ANOTHER expansion on the already compromised and falling apart roots of the game; geez I hope it doesn't fall apart!!" No, if this is what people are doing and saying, then I'm sorry our game will remain shit, for a very long time.
Stop looking forward to living in the new extensions of your house, because you will be disappointed when it falls apart just like it keeps doing. And its sad, that a lot of our community don't see and understand this. Please stop looking forward to a new expansion, realize it will keep falling aprart over and over until the roots and foundations of the gamer are secure, and make them feel the pressure of fixing what they've damaged, which is the most fundamental parts of Warcraft, the foundations of it.
Personally I used to see this problem back in the good ol days of classic, but it was very small back then, and then they started killing off characters like Anub'arak, Kael'thas, Kel'thuzad, etc. It's a very obvious and "in your face" issue now, but this has been an issue for along time, where quantity of content takes over and gets priority of the quality of the game, what you might call its soul. They need to fix the foundations man. I had a feeling the game would end up in a bad spot if they kept making those kinds of choices but I didn't think it'd ever be this bad.

in my opinion a "it was all a dream" retcon is the only actual way to save the lore at this point, If blizzard has the balls to do that i would immediately pre-order the collectors edition
