This video does not focus on gameplay but the lore of WoW Shadowlands. If Blizzard made this one small correction the story of World of Warcraft Shadowlands is saved.

  1. You hit the nail on the head, they want their pet stories to be in the game. They have no idea how to integrate their stories with the old stories, so they burn it down. They want to sell books and upsell everyone. The old guard was trying to emulate D&D story telling. That's why it was more successful. That's what we lost. Even if the game was fixed, the story is smashed. Well, we will see what happens if they even have the guts to hit the giant reset button. I seriously doubt they will do that in a manner that helps the story.

  2. The main reason most people want sylvannas gone is because she make no sense anymore and people are tired of it. We all thought she was written a certain way, then with false promises and random character decisions, people don’t understand her. Blizzard screwed it up, and now people want a reset.

  3. Shadowlands story is definitely not a fitting end to the first book of WoW

that being said I’ve always been a big fan of the “Nzoth wins” theory. It’s hard for me to believe that the old god described as “the weakest of his kin, but very clever” would so openly invite direct conflict with the players at the the end of the Nyalotha raid. Especially when in the other two examples of us killing old gods in WoW they weren’t very happy about it. Pretty much had to fight Cthun and Yogg because they didn’t have any minions left to fight for them, where as Nzoth seemed eager to battle us. It’s just hard for me to believe Nzoth a being that can see infinite truths didn’t consider that the outcome of him letting his enemies directly into the heart of his very essence may be his complete and utter defeat.

  4. Think this book ending is the first book of shadowlands because all of wow in a book and it being the first one makes not friggen sense, that book would have been massive. I think this is the first part of shadowlands, and also think the next expansion is going to be more cosmic stuff because clearly that's what the goal is for our super special writer to dig into and not returning to our root world. Even though a lot of us are tired of this stuff and have moved on already.

  5. Screw what Steve said. This is not what ends the 'first book'. That story ended in Cataclysm when all of the original antagonists were considered dead and resolved. When this immense god-level cosmic story telling was not even the focus. Trying to claim that Shadowlands is nothing but a bullshit reimagining of what happened to Arthas / Lich King and tacked on after the fact is marketing BS to sell copies of the game. I might consider MoP in part of the first Book but that is being generous at best. That would give us 'Book 2' beginning in WoD and has been continuing since.

  6. The only redemption would have been if it was never Sylvanas at all. It was a pet theory that the thing that returned from Ice Crown was something that escaped the maw. Hell.. it could have been what broke the gateway we reactivated.

  7. Nah dude, this is how it really ends;
[Upon defeating the Jailer a cinematic plays of the following]
The Jailer, kneeling, beaten by the [Players] says: "You are too late, it has already… begun…" Snaps his fingers
    for a moment, nothing happens.
Suddenly, a golden hand shoots forth from inside his chest. Followed by a shadowy-grey hand. The jailer gasps, his chest being ripped apart.
the camera shows one side of the jailer, the viewer sees a head slowly coming out – the side of a face, golden and glowing – with long golden hair…
camera switched to the other side, showing the same head, but this side the face is grey with white hair.
This human-figure ascends out of the Jailer, armor colored like his features: half golden with winged details, other half is grey and skull clad.
The jailer's body collapses to the ground, a lifeless husk.
The duo-colored figure hangs in the air, sprouting large wings behind him – one angelic, the other shadowy and demonic as he slowly descends to the floor.
Camera zooms close to his face; His eyes open revealing a blue-fiery blaze.
He speaks, his voice angelic and haunting: "Heroes. You have seen what I have seen. You know now, what I knew then. Now, the time has come, to hunt those who dwell in the void. Follow me now heroes, for I, Arthas, will lead us to victory".

  8. When the void killed us ? In the end we killed N'zoth or am I wrong? I don't understand when the void killed us ? And anyway "I will create a new reality where all shall serve me " I think it is
pretty much clear why he is the villain. True until this point it wasn't clear, but after i say it is :)). I don't see any sense in us being actually dead by now

  9. Stellar video as always, Accolonn.
Even as an Alliance player, I felt really mad and sad that the Loyalist story was just cut short and ignored in Shadowlands…
Such blatant disregard for the player agency is disrespectful and distasteful…and unfortunately, things only seem to be getting worse and worse with no signs of improvement.
The correction you describe in this video is very good…unfortunately, we all know it won't happen…I hate to say it but, Blizz has successfully ''killed hope''…at least for me anyway.

  10. The only way I see for the game is making WOW 2 and go from here in Shadowlands, the players are characters from each of the cosmological forces, they could have 2 paths, good and evil. Introduce all the races, each player could be any race, but select faction and class.

  11. Tried watching you play final fantasy 14 the past 2 days, but you have some pretty spergy/cringe people in your community. Don't understand why people want to orbit streamers, its pretty distracting and ruins the fun imo.

  12. the truth is that the entire cosmos is enslaved by the first-one's design. There is no death, only eternal servitude. That's kinda messed up.
When Sylvanas sais "they will see the truth!" i thought of N'zoth's quote "all eyes shall be opened.". Does N'zoth know about the shadowlands? About the Mortis zone and it's purpose? About the first-ones? IS N'zoth a first-one?

  13. "Nothing lasts. When next you see me you will understand" -> next we saw her was in the ICC cinematic, wasn't it? "There must always be a LichKing" -> She broke the Helm of Domination and kinda ended the rule of "LichKing" on Azeroth. …maybe. Until ofc.. she takes over.

  14. For me, at least since WOS, the story has been rushed. They have been introducing characters that originally had nothing to do with the story we were playing, and trying to find a way to get them out there, till we kill them. Much of the original lore seemed to have been condensed into a couple of expansions and abruptly ended.

  15. Naw, I can't see them doing this. But it makes sense. I kind of expected Sylvanas to weasel her way out of us players being able to kill her. Did we get to kill Garrosh? No. Please, I still expect her go incorporeal to make her escape, while saying we are unfit to judge her. Better yet Anduin, brakes her out and leaves with her as she's the only one who can help him deal with what has happened to him, due to herself going through it too (It looks a lot like she killed and raised him, I don't want that to be so, but still) The fact that we couldn't have saved Anduin from being killed, being the failure we were promised, would be a bitter pill to swallow indeed.

  16. I'm gonna be honest and say you're giving the writers far too much credit. I don't think they can even think about the story in these complex terms–as much as I wish they would. I think the idea that N'Zoth actually killed us all and Zovaal is going to fix that is an awesome idea. But Danuser just wants Sylvanas to be good and he wants his epic, Game of Thrones-style story that rushes all major plot points and character development but looks cool as fuck. He said himself that the final season of GoT was really good–when it objectively was not, for a few reasons, but particularly that Dany's development and downfall was rushed so much it felt like whiplash. What took them just a few episodes to show should have taken 3 more seasons. And I feel the same way about the WoW story. It's why they introduced the Jailer all of a sudden. He has no apparent bbackstory, we hardly understand his motivations, and the bits that we do get about him just make him out like he's a bad bad guy and we're just supposed to accept that. Don't get me wrong. There are really interesting elements and incredible settings that have been created in Shadowlands, but they are rushing through it for what they think is going to be an epic ending, but it feels super unearned.

  17. even though it would be cool if they did this i don't think they will make it so N'Zoth killed us all. Besides, if we were dead, how would then be able to go to Icecrown to open a way into Shadowlands? Blizzard would never do this, although they should have probably

  18. The whole concept of affirming that this expansion is the end of the first 'chapter' of warcraft's story feels so much like Marvel's content milestones of 'phases', and I don't want to be disappointed like I am if that was a direct inspiration for the future of telling Warcraft's stories. Also how far back was that decision was made. Was it back in the planning bfa along with azerite and N'zoth, or was it midway through Shadowlands development. Both would annoy me because the further back you look, the more it appears like copying Marvel directly because they're fans of the Marvels movies and didn't think it through for Warcraft's story, or the closer you are to Shadowlands's launch, the more it appears like a choice made in desperation or total disconnection from the player base and the groundwork and story threads layed out the way they are in Warcraft. I know he said he's done, but damnit I want Metzen to come back and steer the current team away from the cliff they've swirved themselves towards. At least give some kind of insight that they might take this time since Blizz is in some hot water with the community. I know they seem deaf to feedback, but I don't wanna see Warcraft die off as a franchise and story because the current wow team has dropped the ball.

  19. Honestly, there are so many unanswered questions. Big ones for me: Where is Arthas, Where is Nathanos, and Where is Tyrande? These three characters (Tyrande has had a bit of a story here) should be such larger characters here. Arthas should be fully redeemed and leading us against Anduin who will be freed as Arthas was. Nathanos seems to have been dismissed to perform hidden tasks and even says he will be with his loved one when Tyrande kills him so where is he and what is he doing? There could be a moment of torment when he must decide completing the tasks that unredeemed Sylvanas gave him VS having to abandon those tasks for a redeemed Sylvanas whom Nathanos doesn't really know (assuming her personality will now be different). And then we still have Tyrande who is still in mourning for her people and looking for vengeance, although 'she must now choose between revenge and growth' or whatever Alune says.

The most recent teases for 9.2 make it seem like we're going to go into a new zone, run some quests, and run 1 dungeon. I don't see how all of these loose ends can possibly be tied up in a single 8-10 boss raid. And it really is sad because WoW should not end with Lich King/Zovaal story, it should end with a raid on Void Lords. Old Gods don't die and they have been cunning and hyper intelligent all along. Plus they can see every possible reality so N'Zoth was just like "whelp, I"m gonna get stabbed and die" and accepted this end? Yogg just like "everyones gonna look away from me and eventually imprison me, oh well". Seems lazy at this point.
