Gilneas was one of the main focuses of Cataclysm introducing Genn Greymane and the Worgen and while they have been relevant since then it really seemed like Gilneas has been completely forgotten.

Now finally with 9.2.5 we are getting hints for the return of Gilneas. Calia Menethil became one of the leaders of the forsaken as a part of the Desolate Council and in a letter she informed Genn Greymane that she will work on withdrawal of undead forces from Gilneas which strongly hints that finally this lost Alliance city will return.

Whether this will happen in WoW Dragonflight or after is uncertain but more than likely it will be the near future.

  1. one of my favorite things to do in wow is to explore the major cities and fly over the basically empty areas of kalimdor and EK. rly hoping to see blizzard show some love to these places and make azeroth feel like a world our characters live in again.

  2. Forsaken 4 Ever! i just love that race, their struggles how they just really wanna be left alone but are manipulated into wars, garrosh saw them as expendable meat bags and so did sylvanas in the end.

  3. All of the cities need a makeover. Particularly Undercity, Exodar, Silvermoon, Gilneas, Kazan and the Big Tree. Undercity should be made more like Iron Forge, where you can see homes built into the walls and actual homes and businesses you can go into that resemble something someone would actually inhabit. It should have an above-ground section so the Forsaken aren't just existing as horrific monsters skulking in the shadows underground anymore like they were originally thought to be by the Alliance.

A problem with Horde cities and settlements compared to Alliance ones is that they were usually never made to actually resemble cities, you didn't see Houses or anywhere someone would actually live or establish a business, they just had NPC's standing in empty corners and stuff. If I remember correctly, this was because during the games original development, they ran out of time and didn't get to finish the Horde territories and develop them as much as they wanted to compared to the Alliance ones, which they started first, which is why most Horde settlements were often just circular huts with NPC's arranged in a circle inside or something.

  4. There is no reason for the Horde and Alliance to be fighting anymore. The world almost ends every expansion and everyone who is yelling for the two factions to fight in-universe is obviously crazy and just indirectly(or maybe directly) trying to aid the evil force trying to destroy the world. As soon as a character starts proposing the factions start fighting again, they should be detained by their peers and checked to see if they are a Dreadlord or an Infinite Dragon. battlegrounds should be War-Games from now on, with the defenders of Azeroth training to face the threats ahead. Would be a good time to re-model and re-balance the battlegrounds. Looking at you Alliance-Advantage Alterac Valley.

  5. It still makes absolutely ZERO sense as to how the Forsaken have any sway/hold over Gilneas. The Alliance supposedly won the war, yet they don't have Gilneas? How does that make sense? The Alliance won the war, yet they seemingly surrendered Tirisfal/Lordaeron back to the Forsaken. And somehow the Forsaken who were devastated still hold Gilneas. This is despite the fact that the Alliance won the Stromgarde Warfront which blizz themselves said was key to holding Gilneas. The Alliance even retook Southshore and Southern Silverpine(Shadowfang & Fenris Isle included) according to the Exploring EK Book. It makes no sense why the Alliance needs to rely on the Forsaken to withdraw when they beat the Horde on all fronts in the Northern EK.

  6. Thats would be amazing. One of the best starting zones when it comes to atmosphere and music. I love the city but the scenic / iery landscape surrounding it is awesome to explore. I even go there in Retail, just land and sit. Alt tab and do some work or reading. My favorite zone of all time, and it always rains, perfect!

  7. Nope, won't happen. The Forsaken would be totally stupid to not keep attacking Gilneas.
I mean, why would they let the Alliance build a new city? Doesn't make sense.

  8. I Think Turalyon will become the next Garrosh. We saw him get Crazy when Ilidan kill the Naaru. Think he will go in the Crazy Scarlet Crusade Light follower direction with him

  9. Let's not forget some of the Forsaken in life were technically part of Genns kingdom, and the people of Lordaeron were begging for refuge in Gilneas. Would you be ok with handing over the kingdom back to the same incompetent dick who let you die in the first place just to save money on a wall? I really hope Belmont isn't the only one rolling his eyes at this situation.

  10. If the Horde cleansed the Undercity then why can't the Gnomes cleanse Gnomeregan and finally have their home back?? Also I feel like the Darkspear should go reclaim their home on the Darkspear Isles as well.
