HOW TO FIX The Biggest Problem of Modern WoW? Izen's Dev Team on the Job

Shadowlands Patch 9.0, then 9.1, and soon 9.2: One major glaring problem has continued to haunt the Expansion: What is the Open World for?

With content like Mythic+ and Raiding still considered high quality, how could it be that we find ourselves in this situation when it comes to…anything else?

Blizzard tried to fix the Open World woes from Legion and BFA by listening to the playerbase and removing long awaited and much complained about Systems like Titanforging and AP grind from the game, yet somewhat forgot to actually fill the Open World with….LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE TO DO!

  1. Currently, dailes are for (1) Korthia Rep (2) Renown – callings & (3) Gear/Conduits/mats
If you have Tier 6, Renown 80, ilvl 252+, what then, if you do or don't have alts? Why do people who aren't max out not do them?

    Reason: Not rewarding enough.
Solution: More rewarding. Character power: sure. It's the balance of giving too much/too little is the struggle.

    1. [Additional Rewards] EVERY WQ needs to drop additional loot like 5pots, 5 mana pots, 3 runes and an oil/stone depending on your spec to use/sell on AH.
    2. [Upgradable Gear] All gear in WQ need to be upgradable. Based on M+ rating is fine. Prefer no titanforging, but if it does then fine max is the current upgradable max of 246, not 252 to avoid the QQ, the Arcanocrystal QQ was terrible, imagine if you had a Arcanocrystal that was upgradable to the upgradable max though. NO QQ besides the drop chance.
    3. [Better Rewards] Callings need to have better rewards for a solo/end game player. Conduit upgrade item should be a guarantee reward, 5 runes, 500valor, 1000anima, covenant item currency/xmog. Token to be used for raid.

Adding the current Korthia way, drop rate, gear, research, etc is how it should've been. I grinded to tier 6 pre9.1.5… >_>

  2. Titan and warforging was an expansion wide thing, not specifically an open world thing. Raid and dungeon gear included. No amount of forging from a world quest was going to compete with raid gear of the same tier.

  3. This is just another "more power is better" mechanic. We don't need more power, we need fun gameplay, something else than "click these 3x bottles". If you can code a bot to do the quest it's for monkeys, make some intriguing and interesting quests and mechanics instead….

  4. its also lacking in engaging contents. world bosses are either boring that you one shot them with too much players doing them, or frustrating that you cant find anyone to do them with (tormented shits in torghasts). maybe they can add trials or special quests that are semi instanced / layered within the open world that you can balance the encounter around so that world boss kills can actually feel rewarding even without any actual intrinsic rewards. maybe like invasion points in legion but balanced around how many players are inside.

  5. Ah…
So imagine i want to do challenging content (m+, raids, pvp).
Then i have to add 1-2-3 days on top of that to do TRIVIAL and thus BORING content to be viable?
    Nty.
Weekly cap of player power that is 1 – low, 2 – raised each week, 3 – dispersed among all kind of different content is much easier solution (if one is even needed).
Want to raid log? Good, raid log and get your weekly currency.
Casual af and like kissing squirrels? All the power to you.
    Done dozen of m+es? Fine.
Missed raid due to irl stuff? Ok, squirrels are still there.

Forcing players into something is bad.
Forcing players into open world with the good intention is still bad.

If haste is my best stat then not doing "tiny extra addition" in the form of haste elixir is not really tiny.

  6. This is not a problem. Right now you talking like wow devs, who try to fix "player problem", when players dont have a problem (like conduit energy, not tradable azerite piece, master loot). This open world zones basically starting zones, where you level up, gring rep, doing covenant campaing, and starting gear with world quest, then you do whatever you like: m+, raids, pvp, achievements, pets, etc. You dont need open world in end game, you dont need to be forced to do something in it. Imagine if they force you to go durotar again: kill boars and collect some apples with 250+ ilvl. This is perfect situation, where you need open world only for cosmetic rewards.
P.s. sorry for my english, this is not my first language.

  7. They're using RnG to extend content game It's lazy and lousy way to keep players occupied ffxiv has rng however they have vendors for everything And develop new systems almost every patch blizzard by far would never take that task

  8. I like when WoW gives us several unrelated but meaningful pursuits that you can choose to do. They could do that better for the open world. For example, Pet Battles – if you wanna catch'em all – go for it. PVP – you get gear thats rubbish for Raid, but gets an iLvl bonus for PVP. Don't try to squeeze player power into the world content; make something else that's awesome and fun and 100% optional.

  9. The problem with player power in the open world is the amount of time the game demands from the player. Not everyone is a content creator or is paid to play the game. For many we have jobs, children etc. Given that we don't want to spend our available time grinding repeatable content when we still haven't experienced the end game content because we lack this "power"
