  1. As a lot of the other comments are saying, I definitely see this as a taste tester to see if people even enjoy it by using the currently subscribed wow players to give it a shot (hence why you still need a wow sub to even play it). I imagine if people start to really emphasise how much they enjoy this gamemode, Blizz would actually do a lot of the things xar mentioned in the video such as having it standalone and making it F2P. I also feel like by making it F2P, it would also encourage non wow players to get a nice taste of the wow engine and wow combat thus enticing them to try base WoW.

I have a lot of friends who would love to try WoW arena but will never commit to it due to the MASSIVE barriers to entry such as the monthly sub and leveling a character etc… If this becomes F2P I reckon a lot of those players that were on the fence about trying out WoW would be more willing to take the plunge and try base retail WoW (or classic).

That being said, I absolutely love this direction Blizz are taking with this and I would love if they could maybe do something similar with WoW arenas. I only play WoW for arenas so making it standalone would just be phenomenal but I will remain patient and see what they come up with.

  2. The thing is, this is an experimental mode. Blizz is gonna see how ppl react to it and will eventually release it as standalone. This is the point Xaryu didnt think about. There is way more to these process than he describes in the video.

  3. The pirate theme definitely does give it more mass appeal vs strictly warcraft themed, gonna be honest. like imagine theres all these characters from the warcraft universe in the game and everyones pogging and someone whos not as steeped in the warcraft universe comes in and their friends are like oh thats dope and they just have to be like who or what the fuck is that. Pirates are easy, everyone gets pirates.

With that said i do get your point, its a bit, pirates for pirates sake

  4. The whole pirate theme would be great if it was a season theme for WoW BR. The potential for crazy themes with this is really insane. burning legion theme? Old God theme? Heck a PANDA theme???

    Overall big W for blizz

  5. Dude.. not everything blizzard does is good , this is horrible? Like come on ? This is definitely is a money grab ? I guess it’s all opinionated at the end of the day but what’s being done ? A mimic or battle royals for a game that isn’t made to be a battle royal 2 months tops before this dies

  6. I can cautiously say I'm starting to like this new direction of Blizz. Hopefully, they're just testing this idea out by keeping it in the retail client and keeping it limited release. Maybe they give it its own client if it's deemed succesful enough. I'm hoping the same happens with SoD as well. Either way it's a good year (so far) to be a WoW enjoyer.

  7. The problem is that we have to pay money to the company that "listen to its community", so we pay, we eat some huge dogshit (arena), telling them that we want some changes, still pay, hopin for changes, and we got kekw tunings that make no sense AND another game mode, which is pure product, and not a game
So they have time, money for making this, BUT they don't have money and time to fix something in main game, even with our feedback
They don't care, and its not a game but just a product
Wow players will scream of joy after everything by now if this is something new

  8. I feel like this was possibly first conceptualized as the SoD STV PVP event but it ended up getting so big they decided to pull it out into its own thing. Pirate theme fits if this was the case.

  9. I'm not having fun in this game, mostly because I'm bad. If you land badly the game has no mechanics to allow you to come back to the game, you're too weak to fight and all elites will be dead, so it's just over from the begining. Also I think leveling makes the game very unbalanced. No other battle royale has leveling. Spellbreak had it, but it was zone based, so everyone is on the same level
