One of the datamined models for war within alpha has popped up and it looks so cool! This new ‘harronir’ race could be anything. Is it a morbin vampire race living in hallowfall? Are they lower in the nerubian area? Are they what the origin dark trolls looked like prior to any evolution? Super curious! I hope you’ll enjoy ^_^

  1. I remember that when they showed Azj-Kahet that one of the sub-zones had structures that looks similar to the Harronir's clothing, so they are most likely from Azj-kahet and were what the devs were talking about in terms of a group that the Nerubians were feeding off of.

  2. Though if they turn out to not be the missing link between Trolls and Elves, then it might be possible that they are something like a sub-race that evolved separately from the rest of the Dark Trolls and basically lived deeper beneath the earth.

  3. Considering all the Quills on their body, I came to the conclusion that these are not related to Night Elves or Trolls. By the features and possible exposure to Titan magic & Azeroth world soul. There is a strong possibility that these harronir are actually evolved Quillboars.

Looking at evidence in Warcraft history any race exposed to order magic tend to evolve more human like depending on the amount of magic they are exposed to. The original Dragon Aspects for example in their visage form took the appearance of either elves or human. When looking at the dark trolls they were exposed to the well of eternity that had both order & Azeroth's natural magic. So trolls with order magic ended up looking like Elves we know today.

The Jinyu, Pandaren & Hozen are another example of order magic at work considering the Vale of Eternal Blossom was a facility by Keeper Freya. However in their case they evolved from animals or really primitive humanoid creatures (The Jinyu from Murlocs). My theory is these 3 races from Pandaria were individually exposed to different levels of order magic hence their different levels of intelligence and wisdom.

The Titan Forged however is more interesting. Because they were task with monitoring and protecting Azeroth, They were exposed with both Order Magic from the Titans and Azeroth's natural magic. When the Old gods unleased the curse of flesh its possible that due to their existing order and Azeroth's magic they were able to maintain their original forms in some way after becoming flesh. The vrykul children evolving into humans my theory is Azeroth played a hand in it so that these children of the vrykul wouldn't fall prey to further corruption from the old gods.

The new region in War Within is directly under Kalimdor, so it is not impossible that a tribe of Quillboars migrated further south and went underground. Even today if we go to any Quillboar territories they live usually in the underground cave systems. They are also seen practicing nature magic as both Druids and Shamans, so the nature armour the Harronir are wearing makes sense. My theory is the Harronir are an evolved race of Quillboars who were heavily exposed to order magic from the Earthen Machines & Azeroth's nature magic from living in Hallow Fall and maybe also the magic from the light could have also physically changed them into a more elvish form. Why I think the light also could have affected them? is because the Arathi humans all have pointed ears. However you can also debate that the Arathi Humans are descendants of both human and elves considering past alliances during the troll wars.

There is still plenty of room for speculation but my theory is the Harronir are evolved Quillboars as a result of Order, Light and Azeroth's natural Magic. If people think the Harronir are primal Elf-Trolls then there is a possibility that trolls evolved from Quillboars when you consider the Tusks, long noses, Two fingered Hands, Two Toed feet and spikey hair.

  4. Why are Blizzard constantly teasing new alllied races, instead of giving players the ones we've been waiting for for literal years? Ogres, Naga, and Mogu, where are they Blizzard?

If this is just for design reasons to make each new opponents stand out more, I'm all for it, but ease a bit on the new races, we've got enough of them, and they ones we've got, isn't enjoying the spotlight in newer stories.

  5. Kinda boring. I don't know how you call this creative. I bet the furries will be happy.

Why not ogres….omg. blizzard still low effort. I haven't been back since bfa. And with this weak sauce I won't be back.

  6. The harronir are a weird mixture of nice and ugly. I don't know. Give 'em druids and I'll race change in an instant, I guess. Well, for me that depends if dracthyr could become druids in the future.

  7. I'm probably alone with this opinion, but I'd prefer established allied races to be made playable instead of them coming up with completely new things. Then again, many also expected the Shadowlands races to be playable eventually (and I still think that was planned, but scrapped).

  8. Seems less like a missing link and more of an offshoot! like some dark trolls stayed by the well and some dug down deeper! I like the idea that after the Darktolls turned into NE some of them said "F this well! it took my tusks!" and went back to living in caves and that's who the Harronir are! So they are darktrolls that turned into nightelfs and then started turning back into trolls again

  9. I love it and I hope they become playable races. I have seen some comments on X/Twitter from those who don't like them and the implication of such evolution, but we have had hints of it in-game. In Legion, I have looted a grey chest piece that has a description of having markings of Loa and Elune, as if from some ancient race that seemed to worship both. This would be such a great payoff that would just expand the world as we know it.

  10. Whoever these guys are, they look rad and different enough to merit being an allied race, as opposed to minor cosmetical changes to existing races like the Lightforged Draenei.
