So it seems like the 5th old god we’ve been talking about is actually here. We knew something was going on with old god blood in Khaz’Algar, however now the new artwork found within the walls of Azj’Kahet shows a brand new old god like figure. He seems to be a mix between N’Zoth and Y’Shaarj and it seems like the nerubians are being sacrificed to him by the faceless ones.

This would explain why nerubians rebelled and even the ones in Northrend. However even more interestingly you can see a void crystal serving as the sun with rays everywhere giving a whole new dimension to the crystal Beledar and if it was a void crystal during the times of the Black Empire. So who even is this guy and what is going on and are we going to fight an old god in the War Within?

  1. One thing to remember. In the time rift where the old gods won. They were sacrificing people to an old god. It was never stated which. The endless hungering one was all I remember.
Probably related to Galakrond as well. the essence is the same.

  2. That's Xal'atath's original body. She has always been the Fifth Old God. Hopefully she gets it back for a final fight. And at the hour of her third death, she will usher in our coming. Ready? 1st death: Being ripped from her Old God body, and being placed into the Blade of the Black Empire. 2nd death: her new Void Elf body being sacrificed, as she transfers her consciousness back into her original Old God form. 3rd death: when we kill her fully at the end of TWW. Her plans, however, succeed, as the Void had planned all of this.

  3. Uhh blizzard didn't retcon that there were only 4 old gods. Did you forget chronicle was a history book written by the point of view of the titans. The 5th old God absolutely can still be xalitath. She was killed and her essence put in the blade

  4. If it's not N'zoth by it's appearance,it has to be Xal'atath. Old Gods rebelled against their Void Lord masters to take Azeroth's power for themselves. Xal'atath was tasked with a role similar to the titan watcher Algalon but for Void Lords. She was supposed to ready to planet for Dimensius' consumption and herald it's arrival but being the only connection Old Gods had with Void Lords, they betrayed and eliminated her. N'zoth ofc being the weakest one made a secret deal along the way. Once she was gone, Nerubians were essentially free of her. This theory would also explain how was she able to take control of Nerubians again in such a short time period.

  5. Has anyone hypothesized that maybe the crystal is linked to maybe the void lords first and foremost rather than the naaru? I mean based on the mural it seems the actual natural state of it is it’s dark form and seems to be being utilized by the old god(s) in some form of another, and since Xal’atath has such a keen interest in it and the dark heart, and since she is more akin to the pure void than the old god void, I would surmise it’s maybe a way to summon or communicate with the void lords in order to bring them to Azeroth, and it could be the old gods were given this tool by the void lords when they were sent to Azeroth with the purpose of summoning the void lords once they had conquered the planet, but instead the old gods decided they wanted the planet for themselves, sensing how central Azeroth was to the universe, and xalatath being a servant of the void lords wanted to stick to the mission and therefor was imprisoned by the old gods in the dagger.

  7. Its actually not a new old god, its Nzoth. You can see this fully realized version of Nzoth in the Azshara harbingers cinematic, where she initially makes the deal with Nzoth. When he is I AM A GOD and it cuts to the peak Black Empire, you it is clearly the one on the wall. I haven't seen anyone else mention this and I hope you see this comment!

  8. Wait… this says they chained the 5 evil gods below the surface, doesn't that mean there are 6 old gods not 4 or 5? As I recall, they yanked Y'shaarj out of the ground, they didn't chain him down.

  9. the murals that depict another old god we haven't met have been around since wotlk. most recently there was the mural in aberrus during the sarkareth fight. always like looking at those, and i think its pretty cool that blizzard may have not forgotten about them.

  10. BTW in the Chronicle, the Fifth Old god is surrounded by roots. 🙂 You see the Elunahir roots in Azj Kahet, also on Alpha the quest givers talk about Nerubians collecting dangerous "Black Blood" and them protecting the roots which are something far more important than we could think.

  11. I think it's just a depiction of the old golds rather than a 5th one-murals that depict the worship of gods typically are described symbolic in their design and not always accurate in their description but straight to the point. It looks generic in design but has pretty much all the hallmarks of an old god. Many eyes, tentacles, and being seen worshiped by the Nerubians (which worship ALL old gods and not just one) with their Faceless minions. This is all something that's pretty basic in Old God lore that we already know.
