The Twilight Highlands (formerly just the Highlands) are found in northeastern Khaz Modan, east of the Wetlands. It is the location of the ancient dwarven fortress, Grim Batol, and also houses a majority of Twilight’s Hammer settlements, working with Deathwing and his Black Dragonflight. There is a small Red Dragonflight presence. The story of the Twilight Dragonflight unfolds in this zone.
The highlands have undergone constant upheaval throughout their history, with races and factions thriving, collapsing, and changing seemingly without pause. The fortress-city of Grim Batol has played host to no fewer than three potent factions: the Wildhammer dwarves, who abandoned their home after a Dark Iron curse left it uninhabitable; the Red Dragonflight, which was forced to fight for the Horde in the captivity of the Dragonmaw orcs during the Second War; and, of course, the Dragonmaw themselves, who were driven from Grim Batol when the Red Dragonflight was finally freed from their grasp.
The Twilight Citadel holds the entrance to the Bastion of Twilight, the Twilight’s Hammer’s stronghold.
The Dragonmaw now clings to the edges of the highlands. They’re no less wild and difficult to deal with than when they ruled Grim Batol, but their knowledge of dragons and warfare is of unquestionable importance, especially amidst the chaos of the Cataclysm. The Wildhammer dwarves dwell in forested outposts among the highlands’ mountains; though long friendly with the Alliance, they have only now begun to consider casting their lot in with Stormwind and Ironforge thanks to the entreaties of their cousins, the Bronzebeard clan. Even the mighty Red Dragonflight has suffered greatly in recent months: its members have been decimated by a frenzied, newly aggressive Black Dragonflight attacking relentlessly from the petrified Obsidian Forest.

I'm back from the holidays. I can't say I had a good time because I was helping my mother to renovate the house. Maybe the next one will be about resting 🙂
Regarding this video, well… I did it because I almost forgot everything about Twilight Highlands, except the Grim Batol story. I recommend you to visit Thundermar and Kirthaven, some warm Wildhammer dwarves places. And the lore is actually impressive. I'll let you say first something about the music here.

Hi. I am south Korea.
fourth -_-
Lovely zone. I spent so much time here on horde toons farming Twilight Jasmine, wishing I could go into the beautiful dwarven cities without getting attacked.
What a treat, I loved questing here. My dad and I had a lot of adventures here. Thanks for bringing those adventures back Meisio 🙂 /Salute
Another excellent video, thank you Meisio!
I only associate this land with farming herbalism for darkmoon card illusion
The Twilight Highlands, a zone with an unique mix of The Shire from LOTR combined with eldritch corruption, which gives quite a peculiar flavor to it.
Despite having strong lore on paper, and being the max level zone of its expansion, I feel most players forgets the place exists, and the interesting plotlines happening there were never used to their full potential. Grim Batol was criminally underused as a mere dungeon, The Twilight's Hammer was a joke compared to the Scourge or the Burning Legion and the Old Gods and Twilight Dragons implications went nowhere until BFA, which is another can of worms.
But still, the intrigue of the zone cannot be denied, and I think this is another one that would have benefited greatly from having the current treatment of WoW's Zones. Say what you will about retail, but it's undeniable that today's zones are much better handled, managing to stay relevant the whole expansion, and even after it.
Such a big comment hehe, but it is a huge trip down to memory lane! Thank you for your video Meisio, incredible as always!
Ya know what’s sad. I truly miss vanilla wow around 2004-2006 then other expaxs 2008-2010 then 2012-2014. It got me through a lot of bad times. I miss the music it is very comforting. I miss my friends around that time and I wish we could go back to that time when we all had time to play together and we’re not so caught up in real world issues….I miss wow… oh blizzard how you have changed……
Wow I totally forgot about this zone! Some really great music here, ty for the upload 🙂
Thanks for making this, this zone is super underrated!
So many memories…. so awesome!. Thanks for the upload Meiso. Keep up the good work. Woot woot! (^o^)/
Thx 😉
fantastic content as always meisio!
I know that you are in a bit darker place now, and I honestly wish that I could help You in any actual way. I'm really-really grateful to You for You bringing these videos for us, and I'm still enjoy and love all of them. Cataclysm was one of my favorites regarding the music, and even if the Twilight Highlands isn't the nicest and happiest place ever, You were able to make a really awesome video about it. You
as usualreally gave justice to the zone. Thank you very much for your work and efforts! We are all here to support You! You just need to say half a word for me to jump to help You in anything, I could possibly can.A other good vidoe dude keep it up you rock
THANKS! My favorite zone (it may be weird but I think Twilight Highlands were awesome)
my blue thumb up is number 185, there are 3620 seconds of good moments in this video, and the colors of the landscape plus sky reach are fantastic.
spoiler alert this video is a master piece.
Hey, I was wondering how you record these if Free Far Sight has not been updated since Legion Beta?
I didn't appreciate this zone enough during Cata but now I love it
estoy ansioso por ver costa oscura
despues de bfa
The base looks so cozy and the rest so depressing that you kinda wanna just stay put lol.
Finally! I waited a long time for a long Highlands Track, only found short tracks. Thank you!
15:40 whenever we were in Stonecore and very very timely killed the last boss at this right exact moment of the soundtrack, her final voiceline that goes "for my death, countless more will fall. The burden… is now yours to.. bear" it, always sounded so perfectly dramatic like a movie scene ^^ i loved cataclysm quite a lot.
(same with the second boss of the blackrock dungeon when she says. "all part of the master's plan, your death is, inevitable."
Damn dude PvE in Cataclysm was insanely fun at least for me as a fire mage main
Don't play wow anymore, but bringing cho-gall back as enemy with the twilight hammer clan and playable ogres. Man I would be so in.
I hit lvl 85 here, back when WoW was still on top of MMORPG.. Off to Pandaria..
damn, the 24:22 mark song is always so epic. reminds me of the Terminator 2 theme.
Great memories! Thank you for this. I remember leveling up here during Cataclysm launch and I was inside the mine in the north..? part of the highlands when Deathwing decided to gift the zone with his breath. Got my 'Stood in the Fire' achievement that day.. I believe I was level 84 and a few bars away from 85 haha. Good times.
It's hard to believe wow has been released for 20 years already.
I love this zone, it's so cool!
