Even before Shadowlands was released Blizzard confirmed that the Jailer is the main antagonist and the big bad guy of the expansion. However, in later interviews, they kind of backed down on that saying that they don’t confirm that he will be the final boss of the final raid of the expansion.

This leads us to interesting speculations as if not the Jailer, who will be the final boss of Shadowlands? Could it be a Void Lord, could this be related to the First Ones, possibly the Arbiter and Oribos?

There are just so many speculations in regards to the final boss of Shadowlands and in this video I lay out the ones that make the most sense to me.

  1. Here's my speculation: First ones are essentially another pantheon of titans, but much older thus more wise and powerful and in different realm. Their order may not have much in common with order of our titans. They may not see us as enemies but if our order clashes with their order, they simply do to us what our titans did to Old Gods. We're aliens to them after all, not special or worth preserving in any way.

Now their order is falling apart and maybe like with our titans and Azeroth they have also set some kind of failsafe to both alert them and reset the situation. It could sentient creature like Algalon, or more like Weapons from FF7 that appeared to fight the threat and ultimately collect all life energy back for the planet. No matter what, it awakens when Jailer breaks free but only reaches us after we've defeated him. Jailer had initially hoped to have enough power defeat it after conquering us, other Eternal ones and ultimately Azeroth, but now he's weakened and we're hardly in any shape to fight either. He has to make fast decisions and ultimately chooses to side with, empower and guide us for the following battle because since we already broke his plans that were older than even our titans, maybe we can perform that miracle again for his creators/conquerors that he despises so much. Other Eternal Ones would initially be unwilling to join because appearance of that being is will of the First Ones but during the battle they realize one by one that we have proven their grand design to be dysfunctional and they finally give us their blessings. That's still not enough though and we're getting our asses handed but suddenly one more Eternal One shows up. Denathrius has finally either come to his senses or just recovered and is basically like "told you so" and with his masterful ability to extract anima he we weakens the final boss to the point that we can finally slam it down for good.

But right before it dies, it unleashes all its remaining anima and sends giant energy beam into emptiness. The First Ones have been alerted of its defeat…

  2. I think the jailor wants to end his own existence. The word 'eternal' kept ringing with me, so it could be that he wants to 'free' Azeroth from her prison (as Sylvanas used that word), so that she could kill him, because he's tired of living forever

  3. I guess that Sylvannas for the next raid end boss after confronting the Jailor and sparing Anduin she will be the one made to serv, this taking place in Torghast. Arthas will be a boss that you will save his soul and the last raid and end zone will be either Azeroth or a new place where the Jailor is making his endgame plan for whole of existence.

  4. So you're telling me, that if anduin was the final boss and died that would be a poor death legacy of wrynns just like happened to his father, varian and grandfather, king llane, just because of fighting what a sad life😷😓😓

  5. The Jailor should not be the final boss, and probably won’t be. There’s a lot of room for something awesome. The last boss will be a new Lich King for sure.

  6. It'll be sylvanas, her powers raised by the ego fed by her fanboys.
Also in the final boss fight, all sylvanas fanboys will get a debuff where their head twist back and up their own assholes

  7. Here is a theory for you as well which ties in to your speculation that the jailer will be in another form, if we look at the model of the Jailer whats missing, its his heart or what ever artifact or item of power that fits in his chest, so the jailer is looking for the item that belongs to him that completes his true form, when he was jailed it was removed from him in case he were to be freed he would still have to find it to get his power back. all speculation but it seems plausible

  8. The jailer wins somehow and becomes the personification of the death pantheon then frees sargeras. Eventually the jailer, sargeras and the void lords team up vs life, order and the light. All the races can choose between these 2 factions. There will be some plot twist so the jailer, sargeras and the void lords can be seen as good guys too something akin that life, order and the light want to rebirth the universe into their own liking killing everyone and everything for the utopian reset while the jailer and co want to forge their own destiny's and keep the universe as is in a neverending war.
