Tank Nerfs Article:
https://www.wowhead.com/news/upcoming-tank-tuning-in-the-war-within-nerfs-to-self-sustain-and-survivability-345239

After just finishing the war within tank rankings in terms of fun we’ve got hit with the change in philosophy on what Blizz considers to be the best way to tank in the new expansion. The war within tank changes are controversial to say the least and after playing tons of war within beta, we got some input as well!

  1. Great video, probably one of the better feedback to blizzard videos. Points made in the end are very accurate, the whole point of playing a game is having fun and if you take the fun factor out what is left? Oso your feedback on tuning is so true.

  2. the philosophy of ''smooth damage intake'' is wrong and will never work in the first place simply because people will always push m+ to a level that spike damage is inevitable, It's the whole purpose of pushing.

  3. Good. Tank will be more humble. A lot of them feel very mighty because of the key role they play and specially how strong they are (and feel i guess). Let them taste fear of death by seeing they life bar doing yo-yo 😀

  4. No idea what Blizz is thinking, they already fracture their player base with Plunderstorm, MOP remix, and SOD. This has a direct impact on Q times as it is….. Now they are nerfing tanks so it will take even longer to find a group for high level Keys??? Can I get a refund for The War Within?

  5. Tanks have become arrogant and selfish. They do DPS, Heal and Tank. Most tanks don't care about the group and the group is only with them to do the dungeon faster because they can do it alone if they want to. They should have been nerfed ages ago.

  6. lol….they are not dead just trying to taking it aback like it was in BC and LK, now it sucks when you have a tank running half the dungeon and trying to figure what is going on, I like it and yes I am a tank and I am use to being nerfed.

  7. they removed the affixes a healer was (mainly) responsible for … without any further change the healers would just have to dps even more … but healers want to heal and not to do damage with silly unfunfull rotations (healer dps "rotation" is boring as fuck) – so me as a healer since classic ( mostly on scnd char), im totally on board with the directions they want to go. But the execution looks poor on beta at the moment…. If they get it right im sure healing will be fun again, if some tanks quit tanking because they can no longer solo 50% of a boss or doing 45% of the dungeon alone thats also fine for me… we lost a lot of fellow healers in DF because of all that bullshit a healer had to do

  8. Honestly as a tank main I'm maining hunter or frost mage. Not worth all the trial and error when i'm trying to enjoy the new expansion. If they tested more and we had more data I would try.

  9. So , what about when tanks don’t have a healer ? In solo content . As a prot war since vanilla – I remember barely living and having to eat after every pull . Doesn’t seem fun . I’ve had to learn every boss fight , every dungeon and raid since then and now M+ routes and mobs – can’t we just have some kind of break ? Why not make a crucial role in this game more fun . I should be looking forward to the next xpac- not dreading it .

  10. How difficult it must be to think, "Huh! Since we've buffed tanks into the ground, maybe we should consider scaling back on the nerfs. Oh, and maybe give the healers more flexibility and power, without causing aggro." Man, that was difficult. Going to take a nap now.

  11. This looks very much like artificial padding of the content early xpac to me. They usually just overtune things to make things artificially difficult , and it's usually always early in new content. Seems this time that the approach is to Bork tanks to get the same effect

  12. 13:29 Playing tank in Vanilla was not boring. Howevr – the design was different.

Back in the day playing a tank was not about being able to survive everything on your own – it was about keeping the aggro of the mobs/bosses. If they want to go back to the old model where tanks have to heavily rely on healers just to stay alive then Blizz needs to change the entire counter design and role of the tank back to what it originally was.

  13. I am a healer player that doesnt like to heal but play it cuz dps and tank are boring. So dealing damage is nice

I feel like a lot of healer players are like that and I prefer my tank kinda self sufficient. Not monster levels

  14. Your videos are of great quality and i love them for the content that they represent, but the little ''gags'' really put the cherry on top. Those filter for silly faces are good, my favorite is the opening earthquake when flame hits his chair.
Please keep on doing this high quality and informative content with your personal touch in them. <3

  15. Tanks are not destroyed. They are just not OP where the need of a healer is obsolete… But i do agree that Blizz are taking away and giving in the wrong ends more than often.

  16. I feel like it would have been better if they didn’t mess with the spells, but just did the armor nerfs or vise versa, that way the importance of the healer is there but it also allows the tank to stay alive when the healer can’t focus on them

  17. I was so naive thinking they would improve tanking in some way in War Within and now I hear that my main (pala) has been nerfed to the ground. Awesome, I will play some ffxiv then and relax with my gunbreaker.

  18. I'm a prot war and I can say with the relatively minor nerfs we got I'll be looking for shaman or holy paladin healers specifically because of reasons associated with my class.

On top of this, nerfing tanks makes everyone feel it. You need good and sometimes specific healers and you need dps to step up their game for quicker kills and less overall damage to the tank/group on top of doing mechanics. Furthermore, usually dungeons/m+ content is overtuned at the beginning of a expansion. Needless to say I expect TWW to be rough at the start with all the changes.

  19. sooooo people would like GW2 type gameplay where we as the player are in control of our own life vs someone else. With exceptions with some roles being healers and helping the team but not NEEDED in the end just a plus to the group. the best of the best will choose full dps while others will choose a healer to help the group.

  20. "consecutive death strikes are an incorrect way to play" so now we're just sayin anything huh. what's next, using fire blast to force hot streaks is unintended?

  21. This might be the first time I completely blame content creators for a terrible change. How many players could actually finish dungeons without a healer? They created a fix for a situation that didn't exist for over 95% of the player base. The players that were good enough could just do the harder content and they would eventually need a healer again. The difference between the top players and the average player was huge and now this change is just going to make the gap larger and lower the pool of healers and tanks.
