In this video I try out WoW for the first time as a Runescape player. This video was made during the shadowlands pre-patch.

This isn't runescape
LOL bro a pet is literally the ONLY thing you can trade cross realm, it binds to account you make toon on your realm and cage it
It hasnt been postponed till 2021 btw 😛
Has not been delayed to 2021, November 23rd actually.
It's nice seeing videos on your channel that aren't Runescape. Not that I mind the RS videos (they're why I subbed). It'd be nice seeing you upload more WoW/ other game videos 🙂
If you haven't played before you may enjoy it better, the devs tinker every expansion which resulted in the 1 good 1 bad expac "sine wave" since WotLK
Played during classic till the start of Cata, which pissed me off that I ended my sub before even getting to max level (of that expansion)
Also the story is very horde biased, its a problem that has existed since classic. Even after Metzen left the story still does not hold up to RS3 quests
I personally don't like the fact its geared towards raids and dungeons that require multiple people to complete which i know its an mmo and having other people is the entire point but id rather be able to solo bosses instead of ending up not being able to do the majority of content
nice vid protoxx, i tried wow earlier this year even tho im mainly a rs3 player,
found it pretty addictive, most of the points u made i agree with
i still play both games to this day, i mainly raid 1-2 times a week and play rs3 the rest of the time
it's a good game to play to not burn out on rs3 imo, im curious if ur gonna continue playing wow into the next expansion.
Erik! Shadowlands is due to release still this year 😛 24th or 25th if im not mistaken 🙂
I would love to see an update video when Shadowlands drops, only because apparently the game is changing A LOT.
I could never get into WoW. I started with Mist of Pandaria which I had fun in, but never got to max because the levelling in WoW is so damn boring. I quit before I got to end game content. Then I started playing properly again when Legion released and got 2 characters to max, but never got into raiding. I played on and off in BfA and Cataclysm too, but only like a month or 2. The questing in WoW just sucks big time and it's so annoying how questing is basically the only way to level (unless you don't mind completing the same dungeon thousands of times)
Supposedly a lot is changing with Shadowlands. If you do a video on that I would love to see it 🙂 May wanna try it out, but with the amount of times I've wasted money on WoW and how often it's disappointed me, I don't have high hopes.
Can you play d&d neverwinter, it petty good RPGMMO game, to your standard.
What the heck dude. Your name is Erik?!?
As a longtime WoW player and probably super biased, I want to say I very much agree with your pros and disagree with most of your cons.
This game is actually not very grindy compared to most MMOs as getting to max level is typically done within a day or 2, and grinding end-game gear is time-locked, requiring instead weekly visits to raids or PVP or mythic+ dungeon running instead of actually farming out mobs/quests. "Lots of DLC" implies there's lots of content you have to pay extra for which isn't true. You pay for the latest expansion and then a monthly subscription and that gives you access to all 18 years' worth of content, including the base game and WoW classic. "Expensive"… yeah the $40 base game plus ~$15 a month is more than RS3. Very long queue times are true if you're both a DPS and doing content that isn't "meta" since rarely do people do fun stuff over meta crap. I do agree some navigation is rough and cross-realm interactivity/lack of such is kind of a bummer though. The real con is that since the game is constantly released into patches, and each patch powercreeps previous ones, despite there being 18 years of content worth of game to see and play, only like ~3 months at a time is worth doing (until you start farming for mounts and trandmog), and if it happens to be a bad patch, then the game turns sour very quickly.
Hope you continue playing the game man, it's incredible and does a phenomenal of being a "side" MMO to play if you have a different primary. I'd love to see how your channel evolves with the WoW content
Classic is better.
But the question is..do they have rare items like a partyhat? 😀
how is wow expansive 40 + 13 monthly is nothing in compare to the playtime you get out of it
Also you are misinformed
sub only gives you every expansion except shadowlands
Cons: Very Long Queue Time
Reason: DPS are a dime a dozen, there are WAY more DPS players than there are Tanks or Healers.
If you are queueing up for dungeons, it is best to do so in a pre-made group to avoid the queue. If you can't get into a pre-made group, do quests while you wait for the queue to pop. The same can also to a degree be said for PVP as well.
There is not much DLC. It's only the base game and the latest expansion. 🙂 (All expansions before the latest expansion are always included within the basegame)
very major correction, shadowlands wasn't delayed to 2021, it comes out on november 23rd
It's funny how you call it grindy when playing runescape
The PvM in World of Warcraft is pretty good, but the skilling is terrible compared to Runescape. The Skilling in FFXIV is pretty good, but I don't like the PvM as much as World of Warcraft or Runescape.
"WOAH's"
My first experience with wow was "go kill 10 of those" "go talk to him/her" "go loot that". İt was like this till level 20 and it sucked. İ really hated it. But it now seems good tbh.
Woah what a coincidence, I also tried wow last month for the first time ever after playing rs for 15+ years. It's deffo fun and very different but I still prefer rs :). That might mainly be because rs is so much more user imo. friendly.
the betrayal of this video. lmaoo
The queue times were so long because we are at the end of the expansion. Trying queueing for a shadowlands dungeon when that is out in a few days. Queues will be less than 2 minutes even as a dps.
If only the raids, dungeons, mounts and the WASD (+combat) system came to RS3, I would legit never quit.
Nostalgic thoughts fighting Ragnaros back in Molten Core, Kel'thuzad in WOTLK, Gul'dan in Legion.. oh my do I miss those progression raids and lovely nights on teamspeak and discord.
Reaching top ranks on realms on raid clears multiple times and pushing mythic+ dungeons really gave that sense of achievement. That sense of group achievement is something I really miss in RS3 because f*ck raids on rs really.. boring af.
The skill leveling or leveling in general and questing however, f*ck WoW in that sense, gimme RS3 any day of the week.
And now you like WoW?
I play both aswell both good games in their own style
Loktar'ogar!
You still playing or did you quit?
short and long answer. No!
Hopefully you try XIV at some point
Wow is superior to rs. Most people realised that 16 years ago
im pretty sure i pay $3 more a month for wow then i do runescape lol
as a casual runescape player id love to see you try shadowlands and compare the two now
You cheated and posted it?…RS3 isn't gonna forgive this so easily….good luck man, you might need to do something you don't like…like questing.
Starting fresh is definitely better since the level squish, I doubt you'd have enjoyed the levelling experience before, not only was it way slower, but it was super fragmented and just grindy. Especially the older expansion zones, I always dreaded doing 60-80 on a new character, I would usually just dungeon spam to skip them. I play healer, so queue times aren't so bad for me.
You'd probably like affliction a little better than demo on your warlock, a lot of affliction's spells are instant cast DoTs. But most caster classes are feet planters.
EQ1 > EQ2 > Runescape > WoW
Try final fantasy 14 it like a pretty better version of this trash game, I play afk on rs while I play ffxiv
I’ve always wanted to play this but I felt cheating on ruenscape … like the idea of mounts .. lol seems like too massive of A game to play
You are wrong with DLC. alll up to Shadowlands is just for sub.
Pretty sure the reason you weren't getting into groups was that your Raider.io score was low and people in WoW pugs are extremely elitist about who they take 😉
I dont play retail, but As a rs veteran who just started wow classic back in november, i would say it has more to offer than rs for lower levels, even in the classic version of wow wich was first released in 2004, the game has tons of low and mid level dungeons with decent loot for beginner players to do, while rs is just alot of slayer grinding until you can do god wars, i can see how wow was a big deal back in the day kinda annoyed i was playing runescape back in 2004 and not wow haha
I gave it a shot a while back and while it's certainly not terrible, I just can't find enough enjoyment in it to even finish the trial, let alone pay $15/mo to play lol. But hey, for the people that enjoy it, it's all good. I just prefer the more open, sandboxy games that also focus heavily on story, games such as RS, ESO and the like. In terms of this sort of an MMO, my preference would have to be SWTOR or EverQuest 2.
PS: I should add that if WoW were F2P, I'd definitely give it a bigger shot but the idea of being forced to sub after hitting level 20 is pretty much what holds me back from really giving it a go.
if wow was more like rs it would be better. Ive played rs wow and ff online and, its safe to say the only thing wow ever had going for it was the fraction war… its world pvp which they completely abandoned… the lack of world bosses for many expansions pretty much gutted the game entirely. Shadow lands was a good step in the right direction it made the whole world more viable… with the chromie time mechanic to allow for previous expansion quests/zones to be scaled to your level. sadly they decided to just nerf and reduce previous level 60 items to lower levels instead of just making better level 60 items to compete with them.. thats where rs shines… previous tier equipent never lose value… because nothing replaces them except a higher tier or better same tier item.
WoW just wipes the slate clean every expansion forcing your gear to be complete shit. Instead of actually trying to make a real mmorpg experience they just flush it down the drain every xpac.
IF wow expansions were like runescape patches… everything would be all for the better… new players would always be subbing to wow then instead of bouncing around to different games after getting bored same with veterans that lost their interest over design choices.
Lmao you’re a wow noon
