  1. Fun fact: Azshara in Classic was originally intended to be a battleground for the Horde and Alliance to PVP on, but it got scrapped, which is the reason why there are few quests in the zone that exist.

  2. Azshara was originally intended to have end-game (level 60) content, There was supposed to be a battleground, Azshara Crater, believed to be a 40v40 like Alterac Valley. The BG map was in the Vanilla game files.

I believe that the furbolg that you encountered were of the Timbermaw tribe. Back in Vanilla, there was a blocked cave nearby that was originally part of Timbermaw Hold. (The other end was also blocked in the Hold.) If you look at the Vanilla/Classic zone map, the cave entrance is marked.

In-game, there really wasn't much going on in Azshara. It was a mid-40s to lower-50s zone, where the quests were to go kill a few dozen naga to collect some item, then go kill a few dozen more to collect something else. About the only reason to go there was for the quest chain to get the items needed to summon Majordomo Executus in Molten Core.

  3. This isn't actually the vanilla Azshara… It's the Vanilla MAP, like when you press M, but its the Cata geography with all the structures removed. The Org "gate" is a dead giveaway, there was no road there in Vanilla.

The wiki also confirms all this.

  4. Get Dragonflight Engineering and learn the Element-Infused Rocket Helmet. It rockets you sky high (as long as you're outdoors). I accidentally used it to get over a wall in Argus and realized I could go out of bounds.

  5. I think others point this out already, but just in case:
This NOT the vanilla Azshara, and is NOT the Cata version either….
This is a very weird IN-BETWEEN. You can clearly see the signs of the Cata version because places where there are fishes floating with no water, in vanilla those places were not under water. 12:37 Those ruins for example, were not sunken in vanilla. They some how removed all the cata structures: Gallywix mountain, the cannon, the weird road, etc… and partialy fixed the terrain, yet still is not the vanilla terrain.. is so damn weird… there are some key places from the vanilla zone missing: some ruins i used to farm satys at, a depression near the furbolg place, i think the whole furbolg entrance thing is missing, but they somehow fixed the parts were the goblins assets are…
