  1. I'm pretty sure Its the exit to diremaul east after you defeat the final boss. There isn't an instance portal there because they didn't want you getting back in and mining thorium nodes at the end of the dungeon.

  2. You'd come out of there when you ran out of the dungeon in vanilla. After killing the Satyr boss at the end of DM East, there was a crumbled wall with a small cave, usualy with several thorium veins useful to get arcane crystals, and then, you'd drop down from there. Then after the loading screen, that is were you came out. Hope this helps,
Maybe i'll check if it still works like that in retail, i have no done a DM run in a few years now. I usualy take friends there because i can call the special bosses in West with my warlock ritual, and East with the brazier of calling from tier 0.5 quest line.

  4. All of the Dire Maul dungeon wings used to be inter-connected, and this was one of the passages between. Similar to Maraudon, which is why it is listed as a single dungeon on a lot of sites and addons. Also why it feels janky now to have to run all the way back out of each wing.

  5. Funnily enough the Rich Thorium Veins that spawn inside this tunnel, inside the instance, still spawn there even tho you're not able to get to them. The exit is geometry instead of a collapsible object, since cata I believe.
