A quick discussion on the tanking situation in classic and probably applies to all the versions of WoW. The fact that the tanks have already leveled and have moved on to alts and dont want or need to carry people through content! Also various other inciteful discussion.

I think all tank players are as gay as this boy
Video starts: 8:45
10:39 I've encountered this attitude so much. DPS think they are the most amazing players, but have the easiest job in the game. The amount of brain processing power it takes to tank is greater than any other role in this game.
As a DPS, you can blast music and be braindead, spamming your rotation without any other thought. Then blame others if it goes poorly because you're just a DPS, without any responsibility, obviously it wasn't your fault xD
As a Tank, you have to watch your health, CD's, threat, interrupts, position, your healer and DPS position. You have to be mindful of your healer's mana, and at times, your groups health levels. Mistakes are punishing as a tank, whereas a mistake as a DPS just means you do slightly less DPS, no harm done. That's stressful at times.
so much wrong with this video i dont even know where to begin
brother you need to bind your keys, will make the game so much better
My guy is clicking his fucking abilities with his mouse… and has taunt bound to "="… all you need to know.
In an effort to be constructive, edit the walk to the dungeon to a scripted summary of what you will be commenting on from the live run.
Just a tad bit of organization would make this way more watchable for me. Especially since I more or less agree.
As a healer, letting a mage die at least once a dungeon is priority.
A shadow Priest can tank, Locks can tank – don' have to go with Druids/Warr only – gotten 20+ runs of Scholo in so far on Fresh Priest tanking along with a Sunken Temple while leveling, thinking to do Strat dead next.
The 'go, go, pull everything' mentality to AoE down isn't the way to learn duns.
I agree with you. I'm a vet player from 2004 and still prefer the old school way of doing dungeons in methodical orderly fashion. I'm sick of the amount of mages in the game it's sickening.
lol clicking
I play prot warrior, run my own groups, and insta-kick dps that aoe pull or idiot pull. This is my dungeon. You’re just here because I let you
I stopped tanking because I couldn’t figure out how to hold all the aggro when I got to SM cath and didn’t want to practice with random groups cuz they get pissed if you not good.
Now I feel like I’m too high level to start learning to tank at 49
Sweaty tank here. The first week of release of the new servers, I was spamming SM with a melee group (I was mostly running 4 wars and a resto sham). Now, as I’m working my alt through SM, the quality of players just isn’t the same in the groups. My alt (rogue) has maxed eng, epic BOEs, and is consistently pulling 150+ dps in SM arms/cath at lvl 39. Now when a warrior without ravanger/ww axe and his green and white gear is trying to tank and charge straight in without LOS pulling for my group and the other dps are all around 30-50 dps, there’s a problem and it’s not us sweaty players.
Level 40 warrior tank here. It’s all about pumping damage to hold threat. Wield a 2H. Charge, sweeping strikes, whirlwind, mortal strike. Swap to defensive stance then tab target sunder. Guaranteed you will hold threat with that method.
I've played every class, from just before TBC dropped to now, minus a couple/few years between Legion and Shadowlands, and I have to agree with most of what you said. It's also given me several different perspectives of what everyone else is going thru. So for instance like you were saying "what mana?", as a healer I know as slow and easy as this was, I can drink anytime and not worry about you doing some stupid pull, or as another dps class, I keep my eye on when healer is drinking so i can intervene if tank gets in a jam, or I just don't pump at that time. Whether it's classic or retail or whatever, I as a tank always think that I'm the lead, but my healer is the boss. I pull as much as I can handle with what the healer shows they're capable of dealing with. And as any class, dps is just there to help. And as a healer, I never show the tank 100% of what I can do, so I have room to excel when they do go overboard. And only 4 out of 10 times they will.
I think the biggest factor, is how many players never did, or never learned to play classic/vanilla. Come in with that retail state of mind, not knowing how threat works and how many dps just go ham, since that's all they've known. Or healers that think they have a fights worth of mana every time… or tanks that think 15 mobs can't kill them if they have a healer and/or can't lose threat. And I haven't even touched on the gear and skill differences.
I'm so tempted to roll a warrior. I was a tank in vanilla from early 05-08 and I really enjoyed it. I've been healing, because I assumed that heals would be short. Apparently I was wrong
It’s to a point where I generally refuse mages into dungeon groups now. They’re all aoe grinders who don’t give a fuck about anyone except themselves. I’ve also noticed how a vast majority of people playing rn are rude and unhelpful.
the problem in the 2019 classic release was "Why are there no tanks?" now I think it's more "Why is everyone a mage?" I'm trying to get groups for SM & ZF and I get 20 whispers from a mage before I get even a rogue or hunter. I'm about to start tipping melee dps to join my groups
You're clicking. pretty sick video man. clicking.
As a warrior main, this if fucking painful to watch. Wtf are those key binds & why are you mouse clicking all your abilities?! No stance dancing, no shield blocking, doesn't demo shout large packs, no threat meter, no threatplates, doesn't pay enough attention to your surroundings to know the appropriate times to charge pull for free extra rage, sword and boarding when you should be 2h tanking for extra rage and threat. People are assholes to you because you clearly have no idea how to play the game. Please learn how to play your class and the game before making a video like this.
Why are all the gold buyers so upset about his keybinding or clicking?
Dang, is this really your first video in 13 years?
mage can tank, their health bar is their ability to kite
I noticed all the shitty tanks use sword and board and blame the everyone cuz they cant hold aggro
Magecels seething in the comments.
Get 50+ and then PLAY YOUR HAND. Tanks are in short supply such that you can straight-up demand reservation on a specific item in exchange for joining groups …. and entire groups will agree.
While I do agree with you on the fact that AOE DPS can destroy a dungeon and make it extremely hard to hold threat (especially when they don't wait for you to generate rage) you're gimping yourself by running full fury especially at level 31 which is clear since you have deathwish on your bars. As a result, you don't have access to tactical mastery for stance switching which allows you to charge and generate rage at the start of a pull, and you don't have sweeping strikes which is a perfect way for you to do AOE damage and generate AOE threat. Damage converts to threat therefore if you outdamage your DPS with your own gameplay you will hold aggro. Also, you're not demo shouting which does a small amount of AOE threat and is a perfect way to start a pull. On top of ALL of this, you're clicking all of your abilities and you actually went out of your way to put your abilities on slots that have the worst binds possible (numbers 7-0 and -, =). Like I said, I agree that AOE builds can be annoying if they do not respect how your class works, but I think you have other issues compounding the problem.
If I don’t pull 5+ mobs, someone will pull more, overtax the healer and then I’m the one whose ends up dying. And they tell me I suck and can’t keep agro. It’s ridiculous. Us tanks need to set expectations when the PUG starts and quit and find a better group of others who will work together when the try hards pull crap like that
Casual player….clicks keybound skills.
