We take a snapshot of Shadowlands in its current state one month in! It was a super strong launch with careful planning but the usual problems remain and threaten to spoil what could otherwise be a great expansion.

  1. For some reason I have no desire saving Horde and Alliance leaders. Engagement close to zero. Plus some yet another factions with their own problems.
    – Do you want leveling items and boards to solve our problems?
    – No.

  2. Torghast is okay, and I love my dungeon group so that's mostly what keeps me playing that. I actually really enjoy what they did with the Maw, but I know that me being a druid has a LOT to do with that. But as always, good insight and thoughts ^_^

  3. I overall have enjoyed it, however the server I am on has been unstable, loot lag a regular and near unplayable experience
I liked that bfa I could actually gear up outside of dungeons, I don't feel that in shadowlands.. so for me like things like torghust before the nerfs I hit a gear wall (I overall disagree with the nerfs, I knew I needed gear.. however more targeted buffs to classes struggling would have been better, my lock for example just didn't get enough dps powers.. get to boss with 0 deaths and can't out dps it.
Threads of fate should have let us start our covenant, not just give us the abilities.. if they can world scale I don't see an issue of low levels in the maw, torghust etc.
I would have liked if I could have done torghust by itself, not the maw, dungeon gearing etc..

  4. Boring, very repetitive game that has no new ideas. The story is trash tier now with no real reason to give a care about it. They need a wow 2 with new ideas and more freedom, the game now is just linear and requires very little thought to play. Would give it a 2 out 4 stars.

  5. So far it just feels like Soulbinds and Conduits are something I could totally live without. I mean, sure, eventually we'll unlock it all and get to play around with them and do more things but really they're not adding up to much.

  6. It's been a mixed bag for me. I hated the Maw on my mage to start with but have learned to love it. Still not a fan of Torghast on my mage but more of a prot pally thing for me. It just took too long and my mage always died on last boss after an hour of work. Pally ripped through all the torghast layers without issue. The zones were ok, but didn't have the buzz of BC and Wotlk the first time through. Not enamoured with the covenants and will just be putting all my anima into the mission table for the foreseeable as the other things seem weak with poor rewards for the expense.

At the moment, the thing I look forward to each day is the Maw, I can die and lose currency, and the fight to get back to my body to collect it is a challenge. Not knowing if that new elite or rare is going to collapse or splat me is interesting. Looking to steal a taxi ride and then running as fast as I can to the place I want to be is interesting to say the least and having things like the grappling hooks and gnome gliders and not knowing what is going to be in the landing zone is fun. The only thing that irritates at the moment is the hit and miss of the area boss in Beastwarrens not always working.

Happy to pay my subscription still after 15+ years and still enjoy playing with the same guild friends I used to do MC with. Blizzard can safely say they will be getting my subscription for this expansion.

  7. I personally am fine with less gear because so far each piece is more impactful. While that means i have to "work" ie. play the game longer, i actually like playing the game so it's perfectly fine and i think Blizzard made a good move.
BUT, i STILL WANT PLAYER HOUSING in some form. Get it done Blizzard!
