Zereth Mortis – Music of WoW Shadowlands: Eternity's End

This is the music that plays generally in Zereth Mortis, the new main zone of Patch 9.2. If you’re looking for the music that plays in the raid, Sepulcher of the First Ones, that is in its own video.

First off, I’m gonna give ya a disclaimer. I don’t actually know the official names of these songs since the new tracks that came in this patch weren’t labelled. It’s just like 9.1, I had to guess all the names of these songs so there’s probably tons of inaccuracies and stuff.

Speaking of mistakes, I’m pretty sure the “Provis Flora” theme is actually a part of the “Sepulcher” theme from Sepulcher of the First Ones. So I’ll definitely have to fix that one later.

Expect there to be a reupload of this in the future if I manage to find out what the actual names of these songs are. For 9.1, the official WoW YouTube channel released a soundtrack video for that patch which was how I figured out the official names of the 9.1 music. Hopefully they’ll do that again for 9.2 when it releases.

A’ight, enough of that technical stuff. I wanna talk about the music.

I’m not gonna lie, this music isn’t quite as interesting as I was hoping it would be. I was expecting the music to sound really alien and maybe mechanical to better fit the Automa and stuff. Like there are some elements of that, mainly with these sharp strings and electronic ambience that play in some of the tracks, but there just isn’t enough of that imo.

But what we did end up getting isn’t that bad. There are definitely a couple of themes here that I really like. The “First Ones” theme by Jake Lefkowitz is insanely beautiful, I love the choir and woodwind in that one. The “Zereth Mortis” theme is also pretty decent, I just wish there was more percussion in it since the little bit of drums that we did hear sounded really awesome.

Even though the music didn’t quite meet my expectations, I’m still glad to have heard it. New WoW music is always a good thing! 😮

  1. My favorite theme here is definitely the "First Ones" theme. Jake did an awesome job with that melody, I almost kinda wish that melody was used more.

The choir at 13:15 is incredible, and then later the strings come in at 13:52 and that also just sounds so heckin good.

There's also this action variant of the theme at 19:52 which is pretty neat. 22:06 and 24:23 reprise that choir section from the H version which I love. The start of the A version at 14:24 is also rather beautiful.

So the main theme for Zereth Mortis by Glenn Stafford is alright. Kinda was hoping that there would be more drums in it though since the drums at 2:37 are absolutely awesome. Almost reminds me of Destiny 2 music. The transition to that epic part at 1:49 is also pretty decent. I also love this ambient/choral version at 10:32 and the ambient/string version at 8:34.

The vocals and piano in the A version of "Automa Machinations" at 1:11:39 is really cool too. Love the mysterious vibes it's got.

There's this surreal and alien-sounding part in "Catalyst Gardens A" at 35:52 that I actually kinda like. Almost wish more of the themes here sounded like that.

I also like those sinister/mysterious-sounding strings at 1:40:36 and 1:42:14 in the H version of the "Antecedent" theme. There's also 1:43:51 that I like in the A version as well. I'm really biased since the cello is my favorite instrument but I do kinda wish they used more cello in these themes. You can never go wrong with cellos and violins in WoW songs!

  2. I know it sounds cliché to say it, but there's really no better way to say it, you are my favorite WoW Music Youtuber. I love the full collection of a zone in one nice video, and I am especially happy that you divide it all up into chapters that just sound like they naturally flow together. I hope to see more from you in WoW's future. Really curious what's going to happen with Microsoft now.

  3. Thank you so so much for including the actual song titles in your videos. As someone who uses RP addons, we can choose music themes, but they're all listed by filename, which makes it hard to find the right track. Your channel is so helpful to find the best music from WoW and know its filename too 😀

  4. I dunno if it's possible, but do you think you'll make a video for the music of the Ysera Reborn cinematic? The Ardenweald cinematic, basically
The music in it is SO GOOD
