The game has become as bloated and complicatedly ineffective as the Canadian government. I played the first time after Burning Crusade dropped and Lich King, Northerend, and jewel crafting were on the way. The game was insanely social then compared to now. It's a single player MMO now. OK but nothing compared to what the game used to be.
So happy to see you again! =)
I think people miss the friends and overall context they had in the past, especially when you look with current eyes and have a tendency to forget the bad experiences and remember the good ones.
There is also the factor that some people only enjoy some products when it intentionally excludes a big chunk of their peers, which is the premise of luxury products in general, now that anyone can raid, as an example, they don't feel that special anymore and they might drop the game altogether just for that, and some, once they do, they try to destroy what they left behind so other people can't enjoy it too.
Wow is ever evolving, more than other games, your experience now will never be the same in a very short amount of time, and it can be hard to cope with that, but that is also what makes it so worth playing
I hate the current crafting system, not the request for items to be made, but the ranks and such. You know me and my profs…lol
no….its complete garbage.
Compare the starting zones/questlines: The Earthen vs Blood Elves
Compare obtaining the new legendary axe vs the Rhok'delar questline
Compare modern mindless speedrunning through dungeons vs TBC where you needed some communication and use of class utilities
Compare how often you change gear now vs how long it was relevant before
I wouldn't say it's in golden age now. I feel like the amount of effort put into the game now vs before is drastically lower. Look at all the wasted opportunities for something that could be so epic like battle for Gilneas or the pre-shadowland's event with ghoul invasion. Such low effort. Such a waste. It could have been epic.
Compare today's soy bois and their friendship problems vs the tribalistic vibe of the Horde, orcs and taurens and how they became friends.
No it's not better now. Some classes play better. Still has pleasent graphics. That's it.
I only play because there is no other decent mmo
