Did I unironically use Habbo Hotel as an MMO reference…? Yes, yes I did.

So this entire video was just a "Dear Diary, people wrote mean things to my character on a video game today"?
Wow was THE online game years and years ago. Most of the player base has been playing for ages so they expect the same from everyone else. It's sadly unavoidable. The only way to really fix the problem is to create something new that everyone has to learn together but sadly retail isn't it for these classic players.
I got a nephew to start playing in this expac…we joined a TW dungeon together and the paladin tank ran off and just did his own thing, killed two bosses, then told us all; "you're welcome" before leaving group. The tanking that followed was almost as narcissistic and rushed and he learned nothing other than people who play this game are full of their selves. I went back to Classic HC and rolled another gnome.
Yea people can be toxic but there are some really helpful people out there. Don't get frustrated, as a tank you are in control of the group. Tanks are the hardest roll to fill, if someone doesn't listen boot them DPS is a dime a dozen.
this your first video game? lmao
Unfortunately people seem to copy what everyone else is doing and if you try to do it any different their insecurities get triggered.
No one wants to teach anymore. People just want others to “get it”. Which is crazy in a community orientated game.
Dont get desencouraged by the comunity, most of them talk big game but arent even good at playing dps, I have been leveling a warrior and a druid this time around and I avoid tanking as much as I can even tho I know every dungeon by heart because people dont know how to play even the dps role and fuk up your aggro retention a lot. Healers on tje other hand tend to be quite good but that is because most healers in the game are people who like and have been dedicated to the healer role for a long time
If you like Classic, you should try Turtle Wow. Community is much more friendly to new players from my experience. Plus they have custom content that is new to everyone
I resonate with this video as a warrior tank, I do a lot of dungeon pugs for my leveling. I've also found that players see the tank as the de-facto party lead. As rude as some can be, most people will defer to the tank's decision. The more positive and new player friendly I am, the nicer people have been in my parties. The ones that have nothing nice to say…end up staying quiet. Be the change you want to see!!
I'm sorry you've had this experience, but I can't say I'm surprised. I loved Wow and I played it for the story, the lore, the world building – but I had to quit for the sake of my mental health. You cannot avoid dungeons and raids – or at least you couldn't 10 years ago – and it was the exact same toxic community when it comes to new players. As an added bonus I also got a lot of grief from the type of men who doesn't like women in gaming. I've seen a lot of people say that RP servers are more chill, maybe try that and find a guild willing to teach you the ropes? I wish you luck and hope you find better people ❤
Try playing on TurtleWoW, the community feels much more like the ones that used to be in the start of original WoW. The current day WoW community is weird as hell. Try to read their forums, people just arguing with one another for the sake of arguing.
People don’t have time to play anymore..
Jobs, family, life stress — it all piles up, and then they login to get their dopamine
Game is stale move on guys, play something else…
Classic wow is a great game, potentially the best game of all time. The elitist communinity of sweats is horrible.. potentially the worst community of all time.. The game is incredibly easy, and should be fun. These players who aren't good enough at video games to go play a difficult game, and come here to feel superior to other people, absolutely ruin the game.
bruh.. seems like you dont pay attention
The community is much more friendlier and cooperative on hardcore. You should give it a try.
It's a 20 year old game. If you want to try to rediscover how to play, you're too late. You can't fault people for wanting to play optimally.
I love classic but i feel that the player base always had a strong level of idiocy. Maybe I've played too long (im now in my 40s) and i expect more out of people.
Even a few years ago you could find some pretty cool themed guilds around (ex Night Elf only), but now theyre all the same…theyre either faceless zerg guilds or theyre just like every other one out there who's sole existence is to raid and get loot. I dont know, maybe im wrong…if there are any normal people, i play a NE Druid on Nightslayer named Rowsdower.
