Idk if it was just a coincidence, but I tried this strat like 20 times, and I kept dying (not a hunter.) Then, on the 21st time, I just started DPS'n on the Demon, in phase 1, as opposed to the Maiden, and I killed him first try.
I don't know how you got that last platform to stay alive. I always get 1 less, every time. If I just got one more platform then I think I could do this. I'm only a ilvl 192 Ret Pally, so that doesn't help me T_T.
Hmm, I did like you but where you had 1 platform left to stand I had none, what am I doing wrong? I have the dps but all the platforms are gone when im close to killing him
If you are struggling to get this due to dps, then start off killing the Avatar first and use the maiden to block the green beams only. The boss will not power up for the next phase if you block him from the green beams with her body. Make this #1 priority so he does not change phases due to power. He will change if one of two things happen, he hits 20% HP or he gains full power.
DPS him down to like 25%, then get the maiden really low. When he hits 20% and she is almost dead or is dead, he will transition to the last phase with really low HP. Like maybe 20-25% or so. Pop all CD's and blow him up after you fall down. GG. I did it with a ilvl186 warlock.
Thank you for this video. My wife and I were doing this and kept failing. Thought it was a mechanic issue we kept screwing up on. It was just our low dps. I'm not sure why our dps was so low in this fight, we both have 240 ilvl and we're decent players, meaning we know our spell priorities and don't tunnel. We're properly enchanted, had food/flask buff rolling and we both saved all cd's and popped pots for when we hit phase 2. We were only doing about 35-40k COMBINED. But once we got to the magic 50k dps, he dropped. Her on a Boomkin, me on a frost DK. So you're right, it's just a dps race.
Also, I like how Velen just happens to have a neat little trick that protects you from the fel… that he only happens to remember he has AFTER the fight.
Is this possible on a healer? My resto shaman is 270 and I wasn't even close. Got him to the down phase no problem but once I got down there he VERY quickly took out the platform in 2 steps.
I don't know how anyone's able to solo this beast. I'm way ahead of the game in 9.2.5 and it seems that no matter what, he destroys the WHOLE platform now when his ability goes off. Yes, I am following the strategies to get away from him, but the meteors that fall down also destroy the places they land.

There is some "magic strat" – you just tank him by your pet far enough from your platform so you outrange his explosion spell

trying on Shadowpriest, 218ilvl can only get him about half way.

Wtf how do you do this?! I am a DH with ilvl 219 and I always die at 70-60% It's impossible to do solo
I soloed this as a 220 item level arms warrior. I did about 50k dps and killed him on the second platform. I didn't need to jump to a third one.

He destoys the platforms WAY faster when i do this, no matter where i position myself
