  1. Except the campaign tells us the Kyrian didn't know souls were going into the maw. They only knew that new souls weren't going into Bastion. They simply were following their Purpose of delivering souls to the Arbitor. They don't bring the souls to the realms.

  2. I get the feeling the Maw was the sorting hat at one point. The Jailer would disperse between the 4 covenants and he would keep any terrible souls locked in Torghast, never to see light again.

  3. The story is JUST starting and no one can say what will be introduced in the future. To theorize now, so soon after launch is like trying to guess the ending and all the nuances of LOTR while Frodo is riding in Gandalf's cart. You're better off keeping theories to yourself until the fog thins and the actual story unfolds. Sure it's fun to guess but sometimes there is too much over-thinking going on.

  4. More proof that the Kyrian are a cult. Similar to the cargo cults of the primitive south Pacific tribes. The islanders would build and maintain landing strip, going so far as to maintain fires along the landing strips. Waiting for the return of the airplane gods who would bring cargo, including cases of SPAM.

  5. Is it confirmed that the kirian actually bring souls from their dead body and direct it to the soul stream, then pick them up again after they are judged and bring them to their intended realm? My understanding was all mortal souls pass through the veil upon death and naturally join the soulstream, then catch a ride from a kirian to their new realm of existence. To try and concrete this idea, Devos made a point of making sure Arthas's soul was claimed "the moment he falls". That implies to me that she intended to claim his soul before it crossed the veil on its own and directly ferry him to the Maw from his corpse. If there is a direct explanation for this somewhere that confirms or denies what I thought, please let me know as I don't want to make such a claim in ignorance to proof.

  6. It feels like the Kyrian are deprived of their memories because of how strongly they would have resisted the "duty" and question it. You remove the "burdens" of selfless mortals so that they wouldn't feel they needed to right the injustice that is the Shadowlands?

  7. Yes its a plot hole i have to agree. The last chick that i soulbound with did noy even know that souls end in the maw after all this time the arbiter is dormant. Someone should have stepped up in terim to judge the souls. Its kind of stupid that these low ranks valkyres doesnt even know that the souls end up in the maw. Like duh, common sense. No arbiter, no one judges the souls, then souls goes to the maw.

  8. Why would Sylvanus get herself off if she was about to say… ”… serve…”? That fails to make sense. As Prince Anduin Wynn says later, she is all about liberty without any master.

  9. The deities and cosmic lords are similar to Assassin's Creed's Isu. The Isu in Assassin's Creed is like deities to the people of the world having members such as the Greek God Pantheon, Norse Gods, Hindu Gods, etc. However, they are not deities but merely precursors who have deity-like powers because of their technology. The Isu also created humans to be their servants and slaves until some Isu saw the potential of humans into becoming their equals but some Isu don't (Those who don't act like Gods to the humans they made). The reason is that everything the Titan used to help their mission to order the universe is technology such as their ships, fortresses, bases, and other devices. Also, the humans, dwarves, and gnomes on Azeroth were originally Titan androids that are made to serve the Titans and guard the Old Gods' prisons in Azeroth. Also, what is most interesting is that each Shadowland Covenant leaders and sub-leaders have an object that helps to create and enhance their powers. For the covenant leaders are the Archon's Spear, Winter Queen's Heart of the Forest, Primus' staff & garments, Denathrius' sword (Remornia), and the Jailer's missing object of power in his chest which is likely the Arbiter's orb-shaped heart. Also, the Court of Harvesters has Denathrius' medallions to represent their power and the Margraves of Maldraxxus have an object to represent their own power such as Margrave Gharmal's heart (Gharmal's heart according to Alexandros Morgraine gives Gharmal the power to perfect his construct creations). However, we don't know if the Kyrian Paragons and the Court of Night have objects or not to represent their own power. This is why I have an issue with WOW's cosmic deities. They feel like mortals (Precursors to Mortals) themselves since those deities are capable of dying like mortals and getting injured. I believe that the First Ones will say a similar Assassin's Creed Isu telling an Assassin about the worldl quote, "After we located Eivor's probable resting place I contacted you. Through the digital lattice that enwebs this earth (WOW universe) like a spider's nest. In our day, all the world (WOW Universe) is connected like this. A super organism of technology. The staff you carried, the temples you have visited…all of it speak as one."

  10. Would you mind clearing something up for me, when you say choices in MMO's don't work. i would beg to differ SWTOR your choices do work, if you decide not to save a member of the crew they are gone and gone for good. choices you make shape your story as well, now if you were to say that choices in WoW just don't seem to work then i would 100% agree. But that i feel is due to lazy writing, the writers decide and not the players, which sucks.

  11. Interesting how all the cosmological forces(Light, Life, Order, Disorder and Shadow(Void) have a presence within the Shadowlands(Death).
*theory – The cosmological forces except Shadow(Void)/Disorder/Light? made a pact together to control Death; leading to 'perfect order' for 'uncounted eons' until Death made a deal with the Void/Disorder? The Maw has features that are clearly Shadow(Void); compare N'zoths shadow tentacles to The Maws shadow tentacles.

  12. So what were the Kyrian's suppose to do? It is their duty to bring the souls into the shadowlands… should they have left the souls wandering lost around their realms for all eternity? Granted, the Archon should be doing something more about it, I am not sure what that is though… As she clearly states in the storyline, she is aware of the problem and was assured that Orbios was working on fixing the problem. Keep in mind these are "Lawful Good" aligned creatures of Order. We shouldn't' be surprised that duty above all else is their thing. The shadowlands as far as we know have ALWAYS existed and have been the place souls have gone to. I'm really confused on why you're saying souls went to where they served vs the shadowlands. I have not seen any references suggesting a soul of the light returned to the light or whatever as you suggested. All we know is the Shadowlands has not always worked the same way as it does now, and likely the Jailer was part of some sort of taking over of the shadowlands by the forces of Order.

Also, I'm really not buying this Sylvanus redemption story you're selling here. She is evil, and misguided.. She is revolting against a system she doesn't agree with and has killed thousands…millions in the process to partner with other chaotic evil forces and try to rebuild the system in a way SHE thinks is better….

  13. The problem is, and in accordance with what I believe the secret to be is that, in order for the machine of death and everything to work, life, death, rebirth, there has to be a huge limit on Will. People would likely not choose to serve a Covenant for eons only to be reborn. The Shadowlands needs, anima to exist, we get anima by living and it grows stronger through our lives in many ways, the Gift of Life is that you get to live, exist and the price you pay is your duty to the serve in the Shadowlands. If the choice is taken away everything unravels. It makes a lot of sense then that the Jailer, Zovaal, whomever would want to break the system because it would end everything. That is what I believe the Purpose to be. The relic at the inn in Oribos has 3 points and lines connecting them, life, death, and rebirth or birth, death, and rebirth. At the very foundation of the Universe, is the Purpose. The First Ones, whomever they be hid this secret because in order to maintain the purpose you need basically a fuel source, that fuel is souls (souls being a person's spirit and their anima which is their essence of their experiences, maybe emotions, etc. but that's why the soul separates into two parts, the spirit of the essence of the person forged in life, and their emotional energy from experiencing living), life, experiences over a finite time.

The Jailer/Zovaal figured it out, some how and sought to free everyone from a system he believed to be corrupt/unfair/unjust because people don't get to choose but he failed to realize how that not having a choice actually permits existence to be possible.

  14. @accolonn another example that things are not a natural order in shadowlands is draka. In her own words says “a warrior in the house of eyes was an odd fit”. If shadow lands was natural she still wasn’t supposed to go there but I believe it was planned for her to. Eventually she did adapt to their way but that’s because thats what a warrior spirit does improvise and adapt to surroundings

  15. The question is what happens to a soul if the kyrian doesn't pick them up? How does bwonsamdi and entities like the legion get hold of souls before the kyrian? How does odyns or even helyas valkyr get the souls before the kyrian can?

  16. I think the Shadowlands is not part of any force, in the map the Shadowlands and the Emerald Dream are floating around Azeroth. For me, one is the opposite of the other and both were created by someone with a purpose I don't know, but they are not the place where souls went originally.
