World of Warcraft has been struggling for years, even with the successes of Dragonflight, the game’s latest expansion. It seems that, at least to Nixxiom, World of Warcraft has been kept mostly alive by Classic WoW, Hardcore, and Wrath of the Lich King, with Dragonflight certainly being an important part of the game, but not the greatest in terms of population.
People are just tired of retail WoW, one could argue, and there’s many reasons as to why. And those same people, who should not be confused with World of Warcraft haters, have genuinely been looking for a new reason to come back to the modern game and enjoy it again. Well, at Blizzcon 2023, those people got their reason. This is World of Warcraft: The War Within. The first chapter in the World Soul series – a new direction for World of Warcraft and Blizzard Entertainment.

Sorry for the absence, everyone! Just been a busy past several days, including being sick. 100% back in business now! Thoughts on Blizzcon 2023?
Nothing could save WoW after Warlords of Draenor
cinematic was dookie. don't care about anduin or his feelings.
Dragonflight was a success? In payload for the company but not as a game for the community.
So multi-expansion story is from FFXIV and delves from ESO. AIGHT, BLIZZARD let's see what you can do with that
So youre acting as If you've played the expansion. Give it a break.😂
i think blizzard should add ultimate spells, which can only cast by consuming all your resource bar or some big condition. Would make for some interesting play and somewhat balanced
"They got everyone excited" if by that you mean the least amount of hype for any wow expansion to date then sure I guess people still care when retail wow expansion comes out just the amount of people that care gets reduced by 25% every expansion and the period they care about it by 50%
So delvs will be like swotar and their companion system?
I got no idea how they keep pushing these out
Nixxiom calling people blind-ass bitches for "not seeing it's Sargeras' sword" is the most confidently incorrect statement I've seen on the internet for several years.
Several WoW devs have literally confirmed it's NOT the sword
When WoW launched I would agree that the social part was important, but now almost 20 years later, this game has been pretty much a single player game for me. So solo content that can make me get some good looking high end gear is a wish come true.
Thats cool, they are breaking things down into sagas. Raiding and Rated battlegrounds take a lot of coordination. From my experience, only a small few see mythic and high-rated BG's. Only a few good men are chosen for that top-tier gameplay, unfortunately. I am not returning anytime soon.
Delves, WoW meets Diablo I guess ?
They need to de-gay the game .. everything's so bright and homo , I don't want furcadia dragon races and hugs .. I want WAR, I've skipped every cutscene for every xpac for ages because its all bent and I don't care about it.. they need to make the game make sense, a new player jumping in has absolutely no idea what the fks happening, that and raiding and M+ is absolutely trash, average raiding experience is spending 6 hours locked in a highly stressful environment and leaving with NO LOOT.. absolute waste of time ill never raid again i value my time / reward ratio.
Hopefully, alongside introducing Delves, they make Raids a bit more accessible for players who aren't already a part of a raiding community.
>I know its bizarre to see a lady with a beard, but this is fantasy
Sorry Nixx, thats transphobic these days, just like laughing at a buff guy in a dress.
You are soon to be canceled for your archaic views of life.
Please consider moving with the times to a more inclusive, safer and compassionate society or be crushed by the wheels of progress.
"We can do do this the easy way or the hard way. The choice is yours"
Brother, how TF did you not get chills with how much Anduin is reminiscent of Arthas…. I'm terrified that Anduin is going down a dark path. I just hope the players get to interact and save Anduin from Arthas's folly
youre on crack mate, sooner play cata classic then this trash
OMGGGGG SOYYYYYY FACEEEEEEE
The therapy session in the cinematic was neither exciting nor engrossing.
I wish they'd bring Garrosh back to call some hoes bitches again.
I play for the lore. I don't have friends to play this game
Anduin and Thrall therapy sessions 😆 🤣 😂 you so funny Nixxion
I'm the introvert who doesn't care about the social element who is excited for delves, and that's the only feature that has me sold on this upcoming expansion.
I really wish they'd add real official controller support
Nipple Satan!!!!, I nearly choked!!!!
If they deliver on their promise for fully competent A.I. characters I can solo queue dungeons with, I'm in. I like soloing dungeons, so if they deliver on this I might come back in 2024. I think I want to buy a new computer first before I come back to WoW, if I ever do.
Hunter Dark Ranger sounds interesting. my hunter is a nightelf so… or at least what I consider my main character through many years of playing. So a hunter Dark Ranger spec sounds interesting. Pack leader sounds like some awesome Beastmaster shit, I really like the hunter ones or at least the names.
retail lookin so hype, warbands are something that should’ve been implemented long ago, delves seem like Skyrim dungeons.
YEaaa that opinion on the cinematic is clearly rage baiting. You'd have to be a hollow bastard to not feel something from those facial expressions. Anduin was turned into the fucking lich king… forced to take up his sword and walk his path while gripping the soul of Arthas in his hand…..as a Paladin. You people are insane.
If delves end up being its own form of progression. I wouldn't complain. So long as it stays in its own lane that it is. Currently, there's very little reason to communicate with other players. This would just be the nail in the coffin.
People have been "excited about WoW…again" for the last…well, ALL the expansions. WoW fans shit on the game more than non-fans, but when the time comes they throw 15$ at blizz and sink their teeth in
As a lady with hirsutism that can grow a full beard I am happy that I'm finally able to play myself in WoW
the worst cinematic ever
The "idea" of a woman with a beard is not bizarre. Trans people exist, intersex people exist and we want to be seen in our favorite media! Nothing wrong with that, just as there is nothing wrong with black people representation, disability representation, all different things about people, represented in WoW. Everyone is different, but we're all the same. Loved the video, Nixxiom!
They did? I am not excited from the really slow pace at the start of the promo video.
If nixxion was a fan he would know dwarves women did not had beards. in previous dwarven civilizations, dwarves would not allow women to do things considered men things, so they would put beards to part take on those things, like fighting, etc. Then from external perspective, from the fact that foreigners would not see dwarven women, and when they did, they would be pretending to be dwarven men, the chroniclers would say dwarven women had beards. IT is not me saying: "According to a tweet by the Tolkien Professor, J.R.R. Tolkien did not imagine dwarf women as bearded 1. In fact, he explicitly stated that all male dwarves had beards 1. The concept of bearded female dwarves is a common misconception among fans of the series."
The first time even that a Dwarven woman bearded was depicted in fantasy is VERY, VERY recent. And it was never stated by anyone involved in fantasy works up until the posthumously and obvioulsy "fan service" after that misunderstanding became "trendy", that Tolkien son added to an edition on a "explanation" the phrase that "All Dwarves had beards from the beginning of their lives", which kinda say females do have them, but still not original, albeit added by A tolkien, was not THE Tolkien.
And in D&D it follows the exact same pattern. In short, the mass misconception was made into a concept to cater to fans, not the otherway around.
But that is very adequate to the nature of World of Warcraft now. In which massive lore retcons are made to abide to specific niches of users, to try to replicate WotLK levels of engagement.
And it wont work this time as it did not before.
I don't mind the cinematic being less "hype". Honestly I'm kind of tired of everything being forced to feel like an action movie… this cinematic did its job well; set the stage with Azeroths's whispers and Sargeras's sword. The sheer quality of the CGI was kind of hype in its own right and I'm fine with them doing it in a way that isn't "DANGER DANGER DANGER HERE'S THE NEXT BIG BAD THREAT TO THE UNIVERSE LOOK HOW COOL AND POWERFUL THEY ARE".
