  1. If this game had no subscription, you would have more casual players. It should follow the same model as ESO. You buy the Expansion, War Within, then when the Isle patch comes out you buy it like a DLC…the in-game currency is how you buy it. If you don't have enough currency you buy from Blizzard, and it uploads to your account. It's that simple.

If you pay for a subscription, you get simple perks like unlimited bank space or Unlimited Zero cost Void Storage and free in game currency to buy stuff or content from the game store. Also, access to new DLC, like the new Isle, would be included with the subscription, but if you didn't want to sub you just buy it directly. This way if are not interested in the new DLC, you can still log in and play the game the way you want, but it will not cost you any real money.

I won't buy a subscription or use gold as this game is to old and really should be free to pay like ESO. The content is a just a new skin, but the same core content. The bird mount is just a purple version of the one that drops from WoD. Just like the huge flame bird from Firelands, which then got the purple version, then the Green one…. which I farmed out of course. This is not a good reason to have a subscription.

WoW needs to move to a subscription free model and be done with it. If FF is trying out a mobile version, I guarantee it will have a store function. Imagine that.

  2. To be honest, the joke about the store probably applies more to the FFXIV community than to the WoW community. The amount of Fantasia I’ve had to buy so far just to adjust my character in FFXIV is absolutely crazy… 😄
Don’t even get me started on the dyes and all the other gimmicks, like rewards from past events that I’ve missed…
