that mount came out after the wow token, so it was always about who'd spend more real money on wow then farm gold. This is a BFA mount and wow token came out in (i'm pretty sure) legion (if not the expansion before). So people really spent $500 – $700 for that mount when it first came out (depending on wow token prices when they sold them on ah).
Blizzard did do a thing for charity and worded it to match donation from sales and instead they just kept the money and donated some money. Look it up.

It’s funny- you can play a fan server with 999X drop rate and it’s free. Then you can get the mount in 1 week. It’s great. Even if WoW dies, fan servers exist

Even when it comes to ingame mounts there are so many, i do no longer collect them all, just pinpoint the ones i really want, raid, do the minimum, then log off to do a better more fullfilling hobbie. About that specific mount ? I'm not lazy enough to go to town, especially with all the toys to get mail. Just log off on alt, buy then send to main, done.
WoW has sucked since WOTLK finished. The community is absolutely disgusting now, I played vanilla to lich King, the golden age and it will never come again. It was so far removed from modern WoW or even WoW classic, if you weren't there, you don't know what World of Warcraft is
Yeah, Ive seen plenty of 'defenders' of this mount who specifically bought it for the AH mount, Id argue its more than 1%. Way more.
The original brutosaur cost also way more than 90 dollars if you bought it from tokens though, so with this mount they spit in the face of those people, too. This one looks better, cheaper and has one more vendor on it afaik.
In any case, these people are just lazy and cant walk 5 meters even in a video game from ah to mailbox. The best thing still is that people use these on arenas for unfair advantage. Blizzard doesnt care. Nobody playing or making this game cares anymore, this is sadly true.
